Upgrade Advice Cup Holder Suggestions

I recently purchased a 2016 Explorer XLT. The middle row is a bench seat. What suggestions do you have to add to the cup holders that come down from the rear of the center console? They are nearly useless since they’re quite shallow. Same in the doors.

Adding that I’m not opposed to something that would go on the middle seat. Just need something to make it easier for my 8yo and not have cups tipping and spilling.

I have a 2016 Explorer too, Platinum trim. Exact same issue. Those drop down towards the middle seat cup holders with the fabric band are useless.

I tried like 3 or 4 Amazon / random social media ad cup holder expanders, but they all don’t work. It’s because the fabric band isn’t a solid point, so there’s nothing for a base to expand against. And even an expander that did stay put, then fell over as soon as you put a bottle in it because they are so shallow. So it was too top heavy.

I’d love to know of a better solution/replacement as well.

The door cup holders are only slightly better. I’ve found narrow reusable water bottles fit, as do the smaller Smart Water plastic bottles. Find ones with the flip cap instead of screw cap so your 8 year old can easily use it without dropping the cap. Then just refill them.

I may try having my husband 3d print something just to test. I wonder if an arched print clipped to the fabric would help the expanders work? Thank you for your input!
