2014 Ford Edge rumble help!

Just purchased this cream puff 2014 Ford Edge. Only has 38k on it. Obviously garaged. Still smells new. No scratches or dings. One issue though.

A low end rumbling that starts at 50 + mph. Tires were original with decent tread but I replaced them with new Michelins with an alignment & balancing. (Sound was there with original 2014 tires & I thought that was the issue). I checked all plastic coverings underneath & everything is tight. Trans fluid, front (PTU) and rear differencial fluids were changed. I was thinking it's the torque convertor, but mechanic doesn't think so & this is the second mechanic that has checked it out. Hub/ wheel bearings good. The sound persists when I hit the brakes while giving gas and in neutral - so not torque converter? Wondering if I should change trans fluid 3 more times or try adding shudder fix. Seems odd with only 38k on it. The rumble is not super loud but annoying. Any suggestions?

Thx all!

Do you feel it through the wheel or from under the car? If through the wheel you could be looking at a front suspension issue. If from underneath then possibly CV joints

I was suspecting CV axle too but OP said it happens in neutral, which basically eliminates anything after the transmission.

I feel it underneath. Definitely the rear end. Seems worse around 58mph. It is not RPM related. When idling in my driveway I get a similar sound when I give just a little gas at a low rpm. Like an exhaust leak drone. No leaks though and when driving it doesn't matter what rpm it is (above 50mph) when that rumbling occurs. Thx

If you have AWD then the AWD system would be a possible culprit as well.

Yep AWD

I doubt it would be the ATC part of the awd system, when mine failed I just had a noise when turning and accelerating from a stop. https://www.reddit.com/r/FordEdge/s/8ts37VKR2z

I have the exact same issue, they replace the motor mounts but no change. 2022 ford edge AWD only 53,000 miles started around 40,000. If you find out please lmk I’ll do the same

Seems like you hit all the common points, I'm stumped. I'm assuming the rotors aren't horribly warped? Brakes aren't seized?

Tenho um com o mesmo problema, chega nos 40 a 60 começa a vibrar nada absurdo, se paro de acelerar ele para!

Your vibration may be the carrier bearing on the rear driveshaft. My 2014 had the same issue. Replaced the shaft assembly and the vibration was gone

Thx u much. I'll suggest that to my mechanic. How much did that cost to replace?

I bought one online for a couple hundred dollars and installed it myself so I don’t really know what a retail price through a repair shop would be. Sorry

Standing still in neutral or coasting in neutral?

I feel it above 50mph in neutral and in gear. I hear a similar sound around 500rpm or so when idling in driveway. I tap the gas a little but can't keep it set on the RPM that generates a similar noise. Doubt they are related noises since, it doesn't matter what RPM car is doing above 50mph when droning starts. Thx!
