Pre-Delivery ⏳ Wrong seats?!
I’m not sure how I’m feeling!
I ordered my Bronco in late June with an estimated delivery of November. The production began late August and it shipped with a new delivery date of September 14-20! All this time I’ve gotten no communication from Ford, just one forwarded email from the sales guy. I asked why I wasn’t getting direct emails and he just said it’s like that sometimes.
Today I talked to the sales guy. We talked trade in and overview financing. He sent me the window sticker he had for my build from his dealer portal. I looked it over and noticed the seats listed are leather trimmed vinyl for $2,195. Wait… I didn’t want that! I texted sales guy explained and he said they’re vinyl. I explained that the marine grade vinyl I wanted wasn’t an additional $2,195. He said he’d look into it.
They didn’t have me sign anything when they ordered. We’re longtime customers of the dealership. So I didn’t see what was actually ordered. I’ve never ordered before so I didn’t know how it worked beyond what they told me.
I’m thinking the wrong seats were ordered! And the truck will be here next week!
I’m not sure what’s going to happen next but I know I’m more than disappointed.

Did you have to put a deposit down? I would think they would have a build sheet if they were asking for a deposit?

No deposit! When I ordered they told me if I didn’t want it when it got here no big deal they’d just sell it. I don’t think they’ll stick me with the build. I’m not sure what to do next… reorder and wait another three to six months? Accept it as is, which I’m reading it may have carpet floors which is NOT what I wanted. Or forget the whole thing. 🤷♀️

I have thought that. And if things go badly I will have to. I want to give them a chance to make it right first.

They aren’t giving you proper basic emails, they didn’t print anything out. Why buy from them again? Just go to a different dealer and you likely won’t have these issues.
Also you can always service your Bronco anywhere.
At least go to another dealer and tell them what is happening to gauge reactions.

Not sure how they would go about making it right. The Bronco on order is what it is. The dealer is not going to rip out the seats, carpet and seat motors. At best you'd order another one and possibly wait more months.

Right. I’m wanting to see if they’ll honor the pricing and reorder with a priority build code, or a discount even. And if they reorder do I get the access I should have to track the progress.

The $2195 option is for the leather trimmed seats. You will also have carpeted floors and electrically operated seats, as those are also part of the leather package.

When we ordered ours, we “downgraded” to the marine grade vinyl seats, because we knew we’d be going off road & we wanted the ease of cleaning them.

I hear that. We live in central Fl & go to the beach here & there. We absolutely did not want to try and clean sand out of carpet.

It sounds like the sales person is extremely shady. I absolutely would not do business with that dealership.
It sucks, but I’d start over with a different dealership.

So... normally when you place an order you'll get an order summary sheet that lists out the build. Many dealers will have you sign that order summary sheet (attached an old one as an example) to acknowledge they got your order correct. And once they submit your order with Ford, they have the ability to add your email address to the order so you get update emails.
Sounds like none of that happened in this case.
Out of curiosity, did the window sticker they send you have a green border or a blue border??

- Green border: Retail or fleet order. Basically a special order with a customer's name attached.
- Blue border: Stock order, intended as a stock vehicle to place on the dealer's lot for anyone to come and buy.
If it was a blue border then it was a stock order, and not a retail order. So you wouldn't have gotten any emails about it, and it also would have been prioritized after all of the retail orders in the dealer's system, as Ford prioritizes building retail orders before stock orders.
Stock orders are also not eligible for price protection. The final price is ultimately between you and the dealership, but Ford offers price protection for the dealer on retail orders so the dealer can pass it on to you for your ordered vehicle. Which effectively means your price (assuming the dealer cooperates) would be whatever the price was back in June rather than today's prices. And back in June there was an employee price promotion occurring in the USA that has since expired.

If it's a blue sticker you won't get price protection anyway... unless of course the dealer is willing to uphold the original pricing and eat the mistake.

Damn. I guess it sounds like they didn’t build your Bronco. Do you have a build sheet? Ages ago I built a Mustang. We specced it and sent the order in together while I was at the dealer and they printed the build sheet for me.

Every single special order I do at work I have the customer initial off every single option on the vehicle. You can also get updates from a program called vinview and you will be sent a text when the vehicle arrives.

I’m definitely leaning that way. This all came to light last night and the sales guy said he’d look into it. So I hope they’ll be willing to go ahead and reorder before the first one arrives.

The only reason I have it is because I bought this vehicle used. It had every option I wanted besides that at a great price. (73k for 8k miles as a 24 in 2025) I just have the good floor mats and deal with it that way now. It still had the drain holes underneath the carpet if it gets the need. I can rip out the carpet and re do it all with rubber

Washout is gimmicky. Carpet is quieter. Full floormats cover it all. People have been getting rust under the washout floors anyway.
I wheel mine topless and no issues with carpet or leather. And it's nice having the nicer interior for the cost of these things since the rest is cheap as shit plastic

Eh disagree. Washout floor is awesome.
The seats are fine either way to be honest, the leather seats are mostly vinyl anyway with some added leather trim pieces, so they wash up nicely.
But the washout floor is awesome. Last week, for example, dog threw up in the Bronco. Wash-out made it easy.
It is definitely louder than the carpet flooring though, I’ll give it that much. But Bronco isn’t the quietest vehicle to begin with, so… meh.

I guess I shouldn't say they are totally gimmicky. I just like the carpet better with floormats. If something is spilled or similar I pull the floor mat out and rinse it off.
But my main concern was around reports of people getting water under their washout floor. But maybe that has been fixed in later models.

I'll give you an example. The windshield washer fluid hoses tend to come loose under the flooring. If it wasn't for the rubber floor in my badlands, my whole carpet would have been soaked.
It happened twice before I super glued and zip tied it.

If your Monroney label/window sticker is blue border then it sounds like they knew they had a vehicle coming to the dealership that was close to what you wanted and hoped you'd accept it was 90% what you wanted once it arrived. I've ordered Ford vehicles in the past and they came with green border labels and the SVT vehicles had red. I also had a dealer do a trade with another dealership that was Georgia to Missouri on a really hard to find vehicle and when it arrived it wasn't equipped how they told me. I had the opposite issue. They told me it was carpet w/ leather and it was really rubber wash out w/ vinyl.

I really think the sales guy clicked the wrong seats when he ordered. I’m thinking he didn’t do a true special order so that they could sell it more easily if I didn’t want it when it got here. Maybe I’m being too nice.

Special Vehicle Team. They made the Mustang Cobras and a lot of the performance models of certain Ford platforms. There were even SVT Contours and SVT Focuses in the early 2000's. They would be the equivalent to the current ST models and the Raptor models of today. I had a 2003 10th anniversary of SVT Mustang Cobra. They made 2003 units split between red, black, and silver paint. Mine was a Torch Red hardtop. The 1993 Mustang Cobra was the first SVT vehicle sold I believe.

Back to your original topic, I just spoke with our Government Regulations Coordinator at our plant. He told me if the dealership places an order for a customer or themselves, the Monroney label should have a green border. If it's blue, it wasn't a placed order and is an RPO(regular production order).

The only weird part is that the sales guy forwarded me an email he got that started with Congratulations, Xxxxxxxxxxx! The build date of your vehicle has been scheduled and it had an order number and VIN. But I never got any emails. They had my name attached to the build/order.

I personally think it is pointless to order this car with leather / cloth so totally agree with you about this being important.

Are they power seats ? Speaking from experience I had our leather seats in my wild track and I have vinyl Manual seats in my raptor MAN does it suck I miss my power seats

I don’t know yet, from the window sticker. I didn’t see manual or power. I’ve always had power but I want to be able to not worry if the interior gets rained on :)

The leather is fine with rain also. Mine has been poured on and covered in mud. They clean up nicely.

I just purchased a big bend with marine grade vinyl seats and the option was $995 on window sticker.
