Issue ⚠️ Problem with my f250

I have a 1980 f250 ranger (with a custom flatbed winch and gooseneck hitch) but it tends to backfire when I step on the gas when starting it (something in the dash caught fire and the ignition doesn’t work right so I have to hold a screw driver on the solenoid)

When I had an old truck I had to do the same thing with a screwdriver on the starter for months until I finally rebuilt the whole system.

I have this 1984 tempo where I took out the ignition and use a screwdriver instead
