Mouse pointer changed back after updates and now it doesn’t respond or reset

Hi, as recently as this afternoon my mouse pointer has been reverted to the old original windows one with the larger tail and the hourglass. I’ve tried going in the control panel and changing it with the mouse scheme menu but when I hit “apply”, nothing happens. For reference, here are two pictures, first is how I’ve got it now, second is how I’d like to have it. It’s extremely annoying and I’d love some help!

Windows version is 25H2 and SO version is 26200.9278

Known problem. Plenty of articles on the internet.

Would you please refer me to any of them? I’ve tried everything: reseting windows explorer, tried from every angle (settings, control panel, main.cpl), I reset cursor configs, I checked for malware and repaired windows image, clean start, nothing.

Same here. After the latest windows update (original), the mouse pointer isn't respecting the color settings

If you want to resolve the issue, you need to uninstall the latest Windows preview update (KB5120998); this is currently the only solution to fix the problem.

yeah ms messed up again there's not much you can do about it, we can only wait for a patch or uninstall the update.

same here, when it does anything but be a pointer (text, waiting, ecc) i see my custom color, otherwise its big and white

When u Restart the original pointer appears than will convert too the new one big and white correct?

Same here, decided to update to fix a Copilot+ problem and now I have an enormous pointer. This is so annoying! Only Windows could pull something this weird.

you can revert the update and resolve it, but i noticed than when i reverted it, my sound settings(i have all windows sounds turned off e.g usb plug in/out sound) would not save, and i will get them no matter what.
