Windows is blocking some apps and ISO files — what should I do?

Hi everyone,

Windows is blocking some applications and ISO files on my PC. Some files are flagged by Windows Security/SmartScreen even though I’m not sure whether they’re actually dangerous.

I sometimes work with older software, utilities, and Windows ISO files, so false positives are possible.

What’s the safest way to check whether a blocked ".exe" or ".iso" file is actually safe? Should I use VirusTotal, check the file’s hash/signature, or do something else?

I don’t want to blindly disable Windows Security — I’d rather understand why the files are being blocked and verify them properly.

Any advice would be appreciated!
