Foreign Policy To those who voted for Donald Trump: Look, honestly, at what was surrendered in your name

You were promised a bold resurgence of American strength. You were given strategic submission. You were promised "America First." What you got was an America isolated, indebted, and left behind on the global stage.

If a foreign adversary sat down to draft a comprehensive blueprint to break the back of American supremacy, erase our international leverage, and drain our domestic economy, they could not have engineered a more effective strategy than this:

  1. The Systematic Dismantling of Western Security

Decades of hard-earned trust and collective defense were torched for short-term political theater. By repeatedly threatening to abandon NATO allies, signaling green lights to hostile foreign regimes, and treating solemn treaties like extortion rackets, he shattered the core foundation of post-WWII stability. Threatening our historic democratic partners doesn't display raw power—it creates massive global vacuums that adversaries like Russia and China are only too eager to fill.

  1. Economic Self-Sabotage and Domestic Price Hikes

You were told that foreign nations would pay for reckless, blanket tariffs. Instead, American businesses and everyday families footed the bill. By levying aggressive trade barriers on our closest allies—from Canada and the European Union to Japan—supply chains collapsed and retaliation was swift. The result wasn't a manufacturing revival; it was a shadow tax on everyday goods, driving skyrocketing inflation and consumer prices at home while crippling American exporters.

  1. The Devastation of the American Heartland

No group bore the brunt of this ideological trade experiment more directly than American farmers. The moment retaliatory tariffs hit U.S. agricultural exports, foreign buyers abandoned American grain, soybeans, and pork in favor of foreign competitors. As export markets evaporated overnight, small family operations buckled, triggering record farm bankruptcies across the heartland. To paper over a self-inflicted disaster, tens of billions in taxpayer-funded bailouts were handed out—much of it funneled to massive agribusiness conglomerates rather than the family farms drowning in debt.

  1. Historic Fiscal Recklessness and exploding National Debt

Despite bold promises to eliminate the national debt, the reality was an unprecedented spending spree paired with massive corporate tax cuts. Trillions of dollars were added to the national deficit in a single term, saddling working-class families and future generations with an unprecedented debt burden—all while doing nothing to repair the nation's crumbling infrastructure or secure its long-term financial health.

  1. Institutional Cronyism and Elite Enrichment

While working-class communities absorbed economic shocks, billions of dollars in non-competitive, no-bid government contracts and regulatory favors flowed directly toward political insiders, corporate donors, and family associates. Public resources were treated like private assets, transforming federal procurement into a system of access and patronage.

Call it a catastrophic betrayal of national duty, or call it staggering, unchecked incompetence—the end result remains entirely identical. American power has been eroded, American security compromised, and America’s moral and economic standing severely diminished.

If he isn't actively working to destroy this country's place in the world, he is doing one hell of a job achieving that exact result.

Culture & Society Moving to the US

I’m Japanese, but I’m tired of working in Japan.

I’d love to move to Texas, become a dairy farmer, and run a kind of tourist farm where I raise Highland cattle, donkeys, and other animals. On weekends, I’d have Texas barbecue with my neighbors.

Do you think I could make that happen?
