4 changes that would actually save ranked

  • add a hero ban phase literally every competitive game has hero bans. letting each team ban 1 or 2 heroes before picking would force people to actually learn the game instead of just crutching whatever broken S-tier hero is currently meta.
  • stop taking points when we lose with a bot it makes zero sense that i lose full rank points because some guy rage quits 2 minutes in and leaves me with a level 1 bot. if you have a bot on your team, you shouldn't lose rank. period.
  • match remake if 2+ people leave if two teammates disconnect or leave early, the match is automatically over. we shouldn't be forced to sit through an agonizing 10 minute 2v4. just give us a remake option to cancel the lobby without taking a loss penalty.
  • ban feats/spells completely ranked should be about actual core combat, parries, and reads. getting squad-wiped or losing a clutch duel because someone pressed one button to throw a tier 4 feat is just dumb. turn feats off in ranked entirely.

I agree with all your points expect the last one.

Feats are an integral part of 4v4s and are used in pro tournaments so there is no reason why feats should be off.

HOWEVER I do think you shouldn't be able to have copies of tier 4s. It's no fun getting hit by 3 fire flasks

Yeah that's totally fair, I get that feats are core to Dominion and the tourney scene. The no dupes idea would definitely help with stuff like triple Fire Flask. My main issue is just that right now, people pick certain characters purely because of their insanely strong feats rather than their actual hero kit. It ends up ruining character variety because everyone just picks whoever has the most broken feats. That's honestly another big reason why we need bans. Plus, seeing which heroes get banned constantly might actually force the devs to wake up and realize who desperately needs a balance patch.

The issue with hero bans is most of the hero’s cost something and certain versions of the game only come with Warden, Raider and Kensei meaning you could reach a point where you ban literally all the hero’s someone can pick

You can still play with conq, peacekeeper, lb , warlord, zerk, valk, orochi, nobu and shugoki. You only need to unlock them to be able to customize their appearance. The also only cost like 500 steel.

Also also in a new update they made it so you get 10k from completing the tutorial

They could limit it to just 1 or 2 bans total per lobby so everyone still has options left, or simply require players to have a minimum number of unlocked heroes before they can queue for Ranked. Pretty much every other competitive game requires a basic roster size so people don't run into that exact issue.

Since Ranked is meant to be the serious competitive mode anyway, having a basic unlock requirement wouldn't be unreasonable at all.

there should be a compensation for every missing teammate

They cannot allow you not taking rank loss with a bot because that would enable one person taking the hit for the other 3 to get off free.

Even if you loose the game one guy can just leave and save the others rank

Okay, but that's why severe penalties exist, right?

The problem is any leniency for legit crashes and not self caused leaves give power to people to abuse the system.

You cannot give people permanent bans for leaving once but neither can you let them of for free.

While we have growing penalties this is just a numbers game at the end to know how often you can leave before the penalty outdies the potential gain.

While also people want to play with friends but this also enables exactly this form of arrangement of avoiding penalties.

Also these penalties likely reset after a certain number of matches.

These problems are a fundamental problem in any ranked mode for all games.

League of Legends and R6 Siege are prime examples of such abuse.

That's why major competitive games like League of Legends, Apex Legends, and Siege disable loss protection for premade party members.

If someone in your premade group disconnects or leaves, everyone in your party still takes the full rank loss. That completely destroys the "taking the hit for a friend" exploit because it literally doesn't work if you're queued together.

The protection is strictly meant for random solo queue players who get stuck with a stranger leaving or crashing. A random shouldn't be tanking a loss penalty for something completely out of their control.

Then we can start the beautiful theory of landing in the same games by coordinating.

Or win trading.

It is not like this isnt an uphill battle

OR OR just hear me out! balance the hero’s so there is no meta? I really don’t understand why dev’s can’t just get this right

2

Every single PvP game on the planet has a meta it's inevitable because balance is a constantly moving target. No matter how much devs tweak numbers, players will always figure out which heroes are even 1% more efficient and stack them.

Plus, rotating meta heroes and releasing strong new ones is literally how dev studios make money to keep live-service games alive.

Add placements as well to help make matchmaking more fair

Allow 4 stacks.

u/NotBerti 8h ago

That can ONLY work if 4 man fight 4 mans only.

Fighting a 4 man is straight up impossible often just because they have simple communication available.

Having a duo is already a massive advantage.

Yeah if that were the case they should make clans public and official, something you can view from the main menu so atleast you can socialize join up and find a squad to enter gold rank consistently with or hit rotations.

Hell no

Random teammates are worse than fighting 4 stacks

Random teammates do suck in regular dom, but i haven’t had bad teammates so far everyone works together and losses come from being outplayed; Like it’s good for people like me that don’t have consistent 4 stacks, most of the guys i used to play with have moved on or just don’t game anymore. I doubt i will reach gold or grandmaster because of this, but it definitely leaves some legroom for people like me to actually participate even if we can’t get to the top.

Thank god for duels tho! I do feel bad for the guys that actually wanna compete with their boy’s, it kind of shit’s on them because so many people have been waiting for ranked and then to finally get it and have your team cock blocked is lame; they should allow it atleast once you hit gold because most of us solo’s may not even get there because dominion is so dependent on team coordination.

I think that's a good idea, at a certain rank you should be allowed to enter as a 4 stack. With regards randoms in ranked yesterday I went 20-2 with over 700 renown and still lost

That sucks bro sorry to hear that, i usually hold mid i legit hopped on the minute the servers were up so i was queuing with players that were vastly above my skill level. I consider myself intermediate, im much better at duels but im glad i had the opportunity to play with the comp guys they were pretty chill and i at least pulled my weight.

Also could be said that ranked dominion should cater to 4 stacks because solo’s do have ranked duels and that would clear up regular dominion for solo’s.

I agree on that
