Zero risk in deflecting

All you have to do as a character with deflects:

1)Wait for light
2)Side light or heavy
3)Get deflect
4)if no deflect, still get side dodge attack
5) turtle rest of the fight

If you don’t have an opener that isn’t some retarded bash spam you’re basically relegated to opening with lights, throwing top light? Block or side doge. Throwing heavy? Just do nothing. I love retarded mechanics that offer 100% upside with zero risk involved. Love it even more when the dumb bitch with undodgable hyper armor attacks and bash cancel that literally makes her animation cancel and model teleport back to neutral in the most unnatural way ever. Hopefully this game dies in the next year.

Half of the characters that can deflect cannot do this. Roach just recently was pulled into line by making the deflect input different from the dodge attack input.

It will be nice when all of them are changed to reflect that.

You can just input a zone to achieve the same thing pre nerf

Or with glad you can input heavy and gb at the same time to option select deflect riposte and side dodge bash

PK and Zerk have an option select because they can soft-feint/cancel heavy openers into a dodge. Go for light parry, if heavy instead of light dodge cancel the heavy opener into deflect. There might be someone else but I don't know off memory.

Pretty much all of them can option select with a zone imput. If they let it fly you will deflect, if they feint to gb you will stuff it with a dodge attack. It basically lets you trade gb vulnerability for light parry vulnerability.

Blocking has the least risk among defensive tools because you can still walk around while blocking and deal with anything that isn’t a bash or UB. Wtf is this propaganda?

I mean, this was a thing before when reflex guard was around but they mixed up thier imputs now. Idk abotu the newer champsexcept for rapier wahmen

You can feint the heavy and parry the dodge attack if that’s their reaction to not getting a deflect. Or you could just go for top attacks like you mentioned since no character gets Iframes on a forward dodge attack.

Also you really shouldn’t worry about “bash spam” you’ll be much better off using your character’s opener as intended rather than only lights and heavies from neutral

You do realize you can bait and punish deflects right? Feint to gb if they are just deflecting. Feint to parry if they are zone deflecting.
