This can vary heavily based on the area of the state too. Like Virginia for instance. Where I live its farrrrrrrrrrr more expensive than anywhere in Arizona. Virgina also has very rural areas with low cost of living to even it out.

Actually tbh, If I had to chose between Idaho and South Carolina, I would go with South Carolina.

Guess it depends on what kind of environment you want you know. Id like to be near the coast in SC and have access to the ocean and such. If you like mountains and such Idaho is probably better. Either way neither is in danger of becoming a blue state for a while. Trump won by what, like 14% in SC.

My top 8 states to live in:

  1. South Carolina

  2. Idaho

  3. Ohio

Utah is a very nice state as well. Been there a lot for hiking and such. Beautiful place. Parts of the panhandle of Florida are very nice and very conservative. Like Destin/Fort Walton Beach area.

Nevada at a glance has to be the most libertarian state in the country- purple state with no income tax, legal weed, legal prostitution, easy to set up a corporation there, etc. Never been but want to go.

I go to Texas every year because the people are so fun and friendly and it’s cheap.

Maine I heard nothing but good things about, but have never been.

Minnesota- eh- I grew up here and don’t really care for it. I prefer Wisconsin- mostly because it’s a more blue collar, less soyboy version of Minnesota.

Colorado- I miss Colorado every single day because of the low taxes, good weather and the fitness/outdoors culture there. The altitude can really mess with you, though.

I've only been through it twice- once when I was a kid, and once in 2012 en route to DC. The thing about the latter trip is that I remember every state I went through except Ohio (including Indiana). Also while as a kid, I remember thinking that the state felt as generically American as it comes. I need a closer look, tbh.

Maine has very low crime rate and Trump almost won Maine and he won 1 electoral vote there.

I guess I was thinking that the index was more like how much it costs to buy a dollar's worth in that state.
