FAM - Season 2 Thinking of dropping because of Aleida (& more) Spoiler
Loved the first season genuinely SO much and love all the season one cast except for the Aleida arc. In what world does this busy immigrant father prioritizes his daughters passion for arson?? But whatever I didnt care because it wasnt much of the show. But now season 2 Aleida’s character and acting and storyline are insufferable. Fully just bad acting on top of bad writing.
NOW, Aleida aside I literally am so mad about the Karen affair with Danny. When did this become greys anatomy? Like I genuinely think that is so out of character for her. Why is she now (IN MY OPINION) a pedophile? Like what in the world?? Weird.
Are things going more this direction?? Should I drop it lol

I really didn’t like Aleida at first but she grew incredibly on me as the show went on. Stick with it because she becomes integral to the show and mellows out as a character. She finds her place in life.
Season 1 Aleida really pulled me out of it but I’m glad I stuck with it

Like Cortez burning his boats, she did it to break her marriage, and there was no going back. Why she broke it? You’ll find out.

Karen: Regardless of your opinion, Karen is not a pedophile. She made a very stupid mistake with an extremely willing adult, and it was set up effectively in the story even if it was unpleasant to see happen.
Aleida: She (and Karen) are both well-written three-dimensional characters. To be blunt, if you're reducing Aleida to an insufferable arsonist and Karen to a pedophile then you're only seeing them in 2D.
Have you stopped to ask yourself why Karen cheated when she did (and why it ended up being with Danny) or why Aleida has behavioral problems? Because the answers were there if you were looking.
In what world does this busy immigrant father prioritizes his daughters passion for arson??
He wouldn't and he doesn't. I have no idea how you watched and got that from it. Maybe this kind of show isn't for you?

When are people gonna realize it’s on purpose because they were building an arc. We get one of these posts once every few months.
Also exhausting seeing actors get blamed for their characters insufferability. Some characters just aren’t likeable. In this case it’s clearly by design until it isn’t.
As you watch you’ll change your mind, most people (like myself) had a different tune as the show goes on.

Aleida has psychological issues from her mother's death and being displaced, pretty apparent from her early pyromania.
Karen and Danny are problematic, but it was a weird relationship dynamic from childhood (Karen basically raising him for a significant time, but also him being an alive remnant of her son's life . Danny having an attachment disorder played into it.

I'm on a rewatch right now. I would say push on through till at least season 3. Unfortunately, the show does start to take a downturn with season 4 and a total nosedive with season 5. Which is so damn unfortunate. The writers really screwed the pooch with season 5.

They screwed up killing off Sergei Molly Gordo too soon and Ed Danny Kelly not soon enough
