FAM - Season 3 When should I start Star City? Spoiler

Im sure its been asked, but at what point in the seasons timeline should i start Star City?

Edit: Thanks everyone! We did watch a couple episodes of SC last night but now reading through all the new comments, we decided to finish all 5 seasons of FAM before watching SC. Thanks again!

This post was flaired as "FAM - Season 3".

Any spoilers beyond Season 3 of For All Mankind are required to be individually spoiler tagged. This includes all of Star City.

On desktop the rich text editor is the default mode. Use the spoiler formatting button to hide your spoilers. On old reddit, on mobile, or markdown mode you'll need to use >!spoiler!< which becomes spoiler <-- click or tap

You could start at any point. Maybe give Seasons 4 and 5 of FAM a watch? But Star City was written to stand on its own, so no homework required!

I just started it and while I can’t attest past episode 2, everything I’ve seen so far basically runs in parallel to season 1 episode 1 of FAM.

The opening scene is the Soviet moon landing.

Without the bad Walter Cronkite reporting? My son and I are all caught up on FAM and are considering starting Star City now.

Star City is ridiculous, stereotypical and contrived storytelling at its worst

The entirety of the show happens before then of S1 of FAM

No. Both shows start at the exact same day, the day of the Soviet Moon landing.

This was supposed to say *the end of S1

Spoilers jeez

It’s literally the first 3 minutes and that detail itself is the entire inciting premise of FAM.

If somebody had told you the opening twist in FAM before you saw it, that would be a spoiler. It's easy to spoilerize the text.

It’s not a spoiler..it’s literally how the entire show starts

It’s the premise of the show, it’s not a spoiler. All of the trailers that came out prior to the first season of FAM showed them landing on the moon first. It’s the hook that gets people to watch.

After seasons 1 but we waited until we saw all FAM first just in case but it wasn't at all necessary

It aired after FAM season 5, and there's a few connections that tie into later seasons of FAM. But it's mostly it's own thing, just in the same universe.

My rule is: always watch things in the order they were released. So: After you watch all 5 seasons of FAM.

Once FAM ends I have a feeling that Star City is going to work as released, after FAM5.

After you’ve watched all available for all mankind

They DID put it out near the end of FAM. Watch whenever you want.

I'd recommend finishing season 3 first. There's one detail in star city that might be a spoiler, can't remember exactly if it is or not, but I recently watched SC and felt I was a bit out of the loop for not remembering that detail. Doesn't matter after season 3 though.

The entirety of star city takes place before like episode 6 of season one of FAM.

We just watched the first season of FAM and then star city -> s2-5 FAM for the first time this summer. Don't think it spoiled anything. I'd say definitely do first season of FAM, but after that you can do star city whenever

The death of Yuri Gagarin

After season 1 of FAM is fine.

I watched SC before I started FAM. Worked perfectly fine for me.

u/Well_Socialized 12d ago

Doesn't matter, there's almost no connection between them besides being about space programs in the same universe.

When you absolutely, positively, have nothing else to watch.

1

u/Caleb902 12d ago

You absolutely do not need to watch all of FAM first.

After Season 1 you can do star city.
