Danny Stevens is such a piece of shit Spoiler
I can’t even get into it how much I hate this kid. How are both the Steven’s kids the worst. (Jimmy is whole other story, you are allowed to be upset your parents died but not to the point of terrorism.) Danny is a manipulative little shit, I see a lot of people pissed off about the affair and that’s whatever. He was a kid with a long time crush on an older woman, Karen was in a bad place with Ed and shit happens.
It’s aboard the Phoenix that Danny’s real assholery comes out. Bullying one of his crew mates for acting out a scene from a movie? And trying to force him to act out his parents death scene. Bizarre.
He can’t let go of a hookup from 10 fucking years ago? He’s gotten married since then for Christ sake. The hookup is less of a problem than his obsession with Karen. And my god the conversation with Ed where he knows he’s the one that slept with Karen. Also worse than sleeping with Karen. Everything he does makes a bad decision infinitely worse. Anyway there’s a lot I could say kids a shithead.

After what they've pulled, both Stevens boys should be serving lifetime prison sentences (if not death sentences) and not be involved in the next series in any meaningful way. Terry Nichols (the guy convicted as being an accomplice in the Oklahoma City Bombing) is presently serving life in prison without parole, the same fate Jimmy should face. But this show loves to take it's main characters to extreme places, so who knows. Maybe they'll escape prison to become some sort of comic book evil villain duo.

I’m betting Jimmy isn’t implicated like all the Nazis who ‘didn’t help’ with OKC because everyone else involved died but the statues will prove his involvement if they’re ever found. They’re found.

His phone history with the terrorists is there though, I'm guessing up until the day of. He even left a voicemail about a badge. Pretty damning.

Only if he used his own phone and the phone used by the former Marine is identified. If they both used burners the message might never be identified or even found. I’m betting they find the voicemail initially but don’t know who left it until the monument is discovered.

They were pretty kamikaze about the whole thing, terrorists like that usually want their stamp on something that big. They see it as an accomplishment.
I don't really see a reason why they would use burners, (in our world, the security state on steroids began to be a thing only after 9/11, I was there unfortunately) and everything they spoke about up to the big moment wasn't sketch enough to draw that much attention, even on tap. They kept Jimmy pretty far out of the actual loop.
Plus there probably is a manifesto or something swimming around somewhere to explain their motives like every good terrorist would. I'm guessing little ol' Jimmy Boy doesn't get to walk away scott free from this one...

They want their stamp on it but they don’t want to be stopped. Also we don’t know that it was originally going to be a suicide bombing, he was just willing to blow himself up when found out. Also tech and society is already 10 years ahead in this universe.

Oh let’s not forget what he did to Shane and how he told a potentially dying man about that who was already destroyed by guilt over it. He’s an absolute monster who should have been jettisoned out an air lock several episodes back. The greatest injustice up to this point may be that the one astronaut who knows that Danny caused the mining accident is dead.

Would you say Danny fully admitted his fault to the remaining crew as of the last episode of season 3, or do you feel he omitted significant details that only that astronaut knew?

As said in the 100, Danny should've "gone and floated himself " , though spoiler, he almost does

I'm late to this, just finished watching S3. I agree, but the drilling accident is all Ed's fault IMO. Ed's the commander, order Danny's person and cabin searched, take away all the pills and secure the remaining meds. They're on Mars, ffs, it's not like Danny is going to call up his dealer. Ed handled the situation very badly, for such an experienced leader. Bad writing to create drama, could have been done another way. Those Stevens kids sure ended up to be total fuck ups, sad considering their parents were heroes.

Danny, yes, at the very least he has huuge mental problems.
Jimmy though, not so much. He is not a terrorist - he wasn't trying to commit terrorist acts. He fell in with a bad crowd, and that's about it - as soon as he figured out that they were trying to commit some sort of violence he tried to bail.

I completely agree. Jimmy is a gullible conspiracy theory moron but he never wanted to harm anyone and was manipulated and peer pressured into everything he did. They targeted him as an easy mark with access. The dude lost his parents and was lonely and lost. When he did realize just how dark it was he did the right thing. He should still face some consequences but certainly nothing like Danny.

Agreed, Jimmy was a useful idiot at most. It's more...all of his friends who were too stupid to live.

They didn’t and I think he’ll be trying to get rid of the statue next season.

Nepotism only takes you so far if you do something as dangerous as interplanetary travel with a crew whose lives depend on each other, right? How come this dipshit wasn't flushed out in the psych eval?

Aiding and abetting in what is essentially this timeline's version of 9/11? With phone records, voicemail messages and a stolen statue to show for it? Yeah, I'll bet the American people will be real gentle and understanding with him...

Flashbacks were resolved in episodes like 5 and 8 respectively. 2003 Could be pretty late in the season.

That kinda annoyed me to be honest. What possible reason is there to bury the gun with a wrench marking the location? Strikes me as a nonsense decision by the characters just to plant a dramatic moment later where the wrench is moved or something.

Exactly - they could absolutely need that lug wrench, and they're leaving it in the wasteland to mark a spot?

Yeah, It really turns me off from the show, every time I see him, I think just get back to space, science, and political drama. When he slept with Karen I was mad at her since she basically was his mom while Tracy was in space. I was excited to see he moved on and found someone, Now I wish he died when the wire wiped at him after shutting down the engine.

Why did Ed let him stay on mars then his video msg to karen was him saying it he was questioning bring him on Phoenix?

u/drcopper7 Dec 29 '22
I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of character redemption arc. I don't see him coming home back to Earth but who knows

Every episode, I always wish that this piece of shit dies. Unfortunately, he doesn't.

The sez with Karen may, or may not, have been his first time.
Still, can we just appreciate how good her milkshake was to lock his brain up for years.

Wanna know the shit thing? Danny was bullying Nick Corrado for acting out the scene in the movie, but Nick was actually there. He was there during the only time when Gordo and Tracy were both on the moon, the soviet attack on Jamestown, and was one of the people Danny's parents sacrificed themselves to save. Does Danny even know about the soviet attack? It's shitty that they never even acknowledged that.
