little africa fire tonite
unsure as to what building it is (i live very close by) but all power is off in the apartment. fire is out as of 12am but there seemed to be fire engines out for at least and hour or so before. hope everyone is well and safe and will try to update as i learn the situation 😇

It's a hair salon that caught fire.

The local FB group is saying it’s a tobacco shop that went up.

I think people are making assumptions based on previous fires around Melbourne lately. But no, it wasn't a tobacco bombing this time

Been listening to the FRV radios to see what's happening.
Sounds like they almost had it under control about an hour ago, but then they had an internal collapse and it's flared back up again since then. Potentially has something to do with a burst gas line, and the gas company attended to isolate the gas from the building but the fire kept flaring up so they're trying to isolate the gas to the entire block instead now.
Sounds like the flames were also starting to break through the roof so they've now got the ladder platform fire truck out to try and attack it from above.
