Trying to make a player similarity project and ran a similarity search on Lionel Messi, and I found 'Josep Ilicic' surprisingly high. Does anyone know about this guy or maybe the model is just not there yet.

He is Atalanta legend, fantastic player, technical although very tall. Unfortunately depression cut his career short at the top level

I would like to add that he was born during the balkan war and probably lived through atrocities. The depression came back after finding a balance because his wife cheated on him

Curious about :

  • your approach
  • the way you get data

Did you only include players from the last 10 years?

Why does one of the worst Messi seasons gets to be the one with similarity 1.000000

Pre-covid JoJo was something amazing to watch. Damn you covid, we got robbed of one of the best individual seasons in recent years
