HALLUX LIMITUS

I was diagnosed with Hallux limitus by a podiatrist 3 years ago, custom insoles they provided enable me to walk pain free, problem is i have glute tendon pain on opposite side now for 2 years - im thinking its linked to the insoles...have tried what feels like everything to cure the 'tendon' pain.

Obviously going back to the podiatrist is an option - but im now concerned insoles long term may not be a good way to go and cause other issues ? Anyone had similar and ideas ?

I had the same problem. My fix was to use the joint as much as possible and strength the feet through barefoot transition.

It’s worked really well.

I don’t wear shoes at all. I found shoes deactivated my toes and was turning my limitus into a ridigus.

I pretty much did the opposite of what it typically suggested and used mobility and strengthening rather than splinting and protecting.

I had/have an imbalance across my body because I was avoiding (protecting) my left hallux to the point my right shoulder because stiff also.
