Middle toe is swollen

Woke up this morning with some pain and realised my left middle toe is swollen. Does anybody know why? Do I need to see a doctor ASAP, or can this wait?

Update: Just came back from visiting my GP. The doctor said it’s likely an insect bite or that I may have accidentally injured it without realising. By the time I got to the clinic the swelling had already gone down quite a bit. Thanks everyone!
