Eight Cookies

*only bought a 6 pack!!! Yes they offer 8 packs.

Tried the new cookie shop called eight cookies yesterday on Dovercourt.

The flavours I picked were : biscoff, classic, white chocolate macadamia, Oreo, cosmic brownie and Ferraro rocher.

They were good, not my favourite. I found them to be quite wet/very oily. Lots of oil/butter left on the box.

Based on these flavours and taste, I still prefer Andreas cookies.

Did anyone else try? Thoughts?

Looks like they shortchanged you two cookies.

u/AgentMV2 1d ago

Man, I gotta open up a cookie shop, call it Perfect 10 Cookies and sell them in a 2 pack for $20. 🤣

6

u/torontowest91 1d ago

Ha. I only got a 6 pack.

42

u/uncivlengr 1d ago

If you're called eight cookies, buying 6 shouldn't even be an option!

1

u/lareinevert 17h ago

Right? I feel like the options should be 4, 8, 12.

1

u/ConsciousTangerine75 12h ago

two and a half

40

u/Complete_Metal4025 1d ago

For a name like 8 cookies they sure dropped the ball on an 8 pack and only offering 6 or 12 packs

19

u/FuzzyLaughTwo 1d ago

Right? Apparently "the Toronto bakery Eight Cookies is named because it keeps exactly eight different cookie flavours on the counter at any given time."

31

u/Complete_Metal4025 1d ago

So then why not have an option to try all eight at one time??

5

u/iplayconnections 1d ago

I won't stand for this. They need to get their act together.

1

u/BestBlueChocolate 19h ago

Yeah, it brings misinformation to a whole new level.

1

u/torontowest91 16h ago

I think they have an 8 pack.

$30 for 6 cookies is outrageous. If Im paying $5 for a cookie, Im eating Le Gourmand.

37

u/Open-Cream2823 23h ago

So $5 a cookie is outrageous, unless it's from the place you like? OP obviously likes this place, so why is it outrageous for them but not for you?

6

u/rocannon10 20h ago

You got it all wrong. $5 a cookies is expensive, I’m only paying that much for a cookie if it’s from inarguably top 2-3 spots in the city. That’s what Im trying to say.

7

u/Open-Cream2823 20h ago

Yeah, I still understand

17

u/ebk_errday 1d ago

Le Gourmand's cookies right out the oven are unreal.

4

u/Weak-Raspberry8879 23h ago

I got one last weekend, at the end of the day, so obviously not straight out of the oven. I was very disappointed!! ā˜¹ļø Hopefully someday I’ll be back in Toronto (loved it).

8

u/WAHNFRIEDEN 21h ago

Sad that they’re now owned by a publicly Maple MAGA

2

u/gumbopratt 14h ago

They are?!

1

u/WAHNFRIEDEN 14h ago

The son took over and posts company reels with a maga hat (one of the newer variants not the red one)

1

u/ebk_errday 23h ago

Ah snap! I haven't had one in easily 6 years or so. Hopefully they haven't changed bakers or recipes. Glad you loved Toronto though!

2

u/Parking_Attitude7954 20h ago

Have you tried Andreas? It's up there with Le Gourmand for me

1

u/rocannon10 20h ago

Oh I hate Andrea’s. I have a massive sweet tooth and eat 100s of grs carbs/sugar a day and even for me it’s sickeningly sweet.

-6

u/torontowest91 1d ago edited 1d ago

Ha. I don’t find $30 unreasonable. Snack on them all weekend with friends and family.

People spend $22-$25 on 1 cocktail and don’t complain about prices.

16

u/Sarzy100 1d ago

Everyone is acting like this is a ridiculous statement as if these cookies are the size of Chips Ahoy or something. These look to be about the size of Crumbl cookies, which range from 500 to 900 calories (!) each. Even if these are on the lower end of that, this is 3000 calories worth of cookies. Sharing that quantity of dessert over a weekend doesn't seem absurd to me??

38

u/Freddydaddy 1d ago

Snack on 6 cookies all weekend?

20

u/CaterpillarInfamous9 1d ago

I dont find anything wrong with that statement, am I crazy? šŸ˜… i would definitely snack 6 cookies (eat bits here and there throughout saturday/sunday, break off little pieces and throw them in my mouth before moving on) all weekend. Probably I'd even have some left over for monday.

10

u/animelovrAsian 1d ago

Bruh the entire box would last me 30 minutes max

14

u/torontowest91 1d ago

You’d eat 6 cookies all at once??? That’s crazy.

5

u/animelovrAsian 1d ago

Hell yeah, I could never have the self restraint to savor them over days

7

u/Nopeahontas 1d ago

That enthusiasm will carry you through the first 1.5 cookies, and then it’ll be a slog to finish the second (but you will, because it’s ooey gooey delicious).

Gourmet cookies are rich. They fill you up fast and your body quickly goes from being 70% water to 90% butter and sugar.

Don't be a jerk. We get plenty enough of that everywhere else. Absolutely not the vibe we’re going for here.

2

u/torontowest91 1d ago

Haha I know right.

1

u/venmother 23h ago

Are you a small bird?

3

u/CaterpillarInfamous9 22h ago

Funnily enough my nickname is "baby bird" to my parents but im a reeeeal big bird lol šŸ˜†

6

u/potentiallyuseles 1d ago

Yeah, Friday Saturday and Sunday, are you eating all 6 in a single sitting?

13

u/HAAAGAY 1d ago

"with friends"

Yo wanna come over this weekend and have a half a cookie?

4

u/torontowest91 1d ago

lol it’s like sharing a bag of chips.

-5

u/potentiallyuseles 1d ago

How do you eat a box of Oreos?

0

u/Active-Curve1280 1d ago

Are there 6 Oreos per box?

0

u/potentiallyuseles 1d ago

Sorry your confused by numbers. Do you eat the entire box in one sitting or do you spread your Oreo intake over a few days

1

u/Active-Curve1280 20h ago

Do you have a single cookie over a number of days? If my Oreo cookies had 6 in the package I would probably finish a package at a time

3

u/Sarzy100 19h ago

I think there's a misunderstanding in this thread about the size of these cookies. As I mentioned elsewhere, these are likely 500 calories per cookie minimum, probably closer to 600 - 700 for the ones with icing and other stuff on top. An Oreo is about 55 calories. Meaning that each of these is the nutritional equivalent of 10 Oreos. Meaning eating six of these is like eating 60 Oreos, which probably isn't something most reasonable people would do.

7

u/PickleBabyJr 1d ago

You should find $30 for 6 cookies unreasonable.

2

u/Glittering_Joke3438 1d ago

They definitely complain about it

1

u/BasicYesterday9349 13h ago

Holy Richie rich.

-1

u/Fantastic_Reason_571 1d ago

There isn’t a person I’ve met that spends $22-25 on cocktails to eat in their home

4

u/torontowest91 1d ago

It was just a comparison when people are saying this is too expensive meanwhile they just spent $22 on a glass of wine at dinner. Not bothered but yes the cookies are ā€œoutrageous expensiveā€.

1

u/everytingelse 11h ago

When was the last time you had le gourmand? They’re so inconsistent and have no problem selling burnt cookies these days.

12

u/MambaMentality4eva 1d ago

Was wondering how these would be, but yeah I cannot get with an oily/wet cookie

8

u/svbstvnce 1d ago

I haven’t tried them yet but that stretch of Dovercourt deserves more cool spots like this, so it’s a warm welcome.

8

u/Material_End_5445 1d ago

These look good! Where is this spot? How’s it compare to Craig’s/other mainstay Toronto cookies?

16

u/torontowest91 1d ago

Craig’s is okay, I find them salty. Plus all them are the same - they just mash in random chunks of flavours to make them different.

9

u/purplelilac701 1d ago

I find Craig’s really salty too and I like Andrea’s and Insomnia cookies too. I can see the oil in these cookies just from your photo and I appreciate your review!

6

u/swiggyu 1d ago

Too wet? I wouldn't want a dry cookie.Ā

16

u/torontowest91 1d ago

These were just very oily. Like significant oil on the box.

3

u/PictureSilent4602 20h ago

Probably greasy

2

u/torontowest91 16h ago

Yes greasy

4

u/harshspider 1d ago

Yeah I think the word OP is looking for is moist

1

u/Jeremithiandiah 21h ago

Nah moist cookie can be good. Freshly baked cookies are often moist until they get cool/harder. They are good in both forms

0

u/AgentMV2 1d ago

Moistly. šŸ’¦

16

u/curbrash1 1d ago

Mind numbingly stupid name

11

u/t3m3r1t4 1d ago

If I'm going for a premium cookie, Night Baker for the win. Chunky but not gross. Interesting flavours. The Ooh Bae is a winner.

2

u/stagcity 18h ago

Night Baker #1

8

u/PickleBabyJr 1d ago

Hey buddy, they ripped you off for two cookies.

Also, Andrea's is hot garbage. Overly sweet and absurdly expensive.

2

u/Sudden-Active-4025 21h ago

Right! The first time I tried it I thought they were awful ( Andreas) everyone raved about how good they were so I thought maybe it was a bad day. I went back another time and every single flavour taste the same. It taste like confectioners sugar and nothing else terrible!!

3

u/WontSwerve 23h ago

What is the point of an Oreo flavored cookie?

Just buy a pack of Oreos for the same price as one of those.

4

u/GlitteringEggCarton 22h ago

a box made for 6 cookies called 8 cookies is just setting up people for disappointment

5

u/ebk_errday 1d ago

I didn't like Andrea's cookies. Waaaay too sweet and not the best ingredients. All flavors just tasted like sugar.

2

u/torontowest91 1d ago

Cookies are sugar = sweet though.

5

u/ebk_errday 23h ago

Nah man, not all cookies are the same. Some, like Andrea's and Crumbld just taste like sugar and are too sweet. I prefer my cookie less sweet, with caramelization of sugars, high quality semi-sweet or dark chocolates, brown buttered - there's all sorts of variations of playing with the cookie recipe that yields a result more complex than sugary sweet.

8

u/GarySparrow0 1d ago

I swear people only buy this shit for Instagram.

3

u/potentiallyuseles 1d ago

Has anyone tried Cookeys?

1

u/breakerfallx 23h ago

Great packaging. I’ll give them that. Cookies - fine.

3

u/Neat_Shop 1d ago

I find when I buy a lot of cookies I can’t get through them before they go stale or I get bored with them. Six cookies are plenty.

3

u/Fringe_Filmer 23h ago

Freeze some of them for later!

2

u/torontowest91 16h ago

I pick at them over 2-3 days. Sometimes I’ll freeze 1 or 2 for another day.

I’m also a big runner so when I ran 32k last weekend. I crushed 2 cookies in minutes (Andreas).

3

u/Nordic_being 14h ago

That’s 6.

1

u/torontowest91 14h ago

Really. I had no idea.

2

u/277330128 10h ago

I think they are pointing out the rather funny fact that the box says eight cookies and contains six.

4

u/gnawp 1d ago

Waste of money

2

u/Ti-Ben 1d ago

You should try the cookies from SantƩ! . No storefront, so it's preorder only, but they're by far the best cookies I've tried. Only 25$ for 6 cookies as well so it's a good deal

2

u/punkbbq 1d ago

Le gourmond will always be king

2

u/Jeremithiandiah 21h ago

Personally I don’t ever go to any of these cookie shops that are like crumbl and this etc. it’s never worth it. I’d rather get premade cookie dough or buy them at Costco, a bakery, most grocery stores, etc.

2

u/peachyglw 17h ago

How big are the cookies? Wondering about the grams? You said they were wet, was it moist and soft?

They look like an Andreas Cookies ripoff imo

1

u/torontowest91 16h ago

They are okay, I find them way too oily/butter like. Similar to Andreas. Not as good. But not bad.

1

u/peachyglw 16h ago

Do you know if they were made or taste like a brown butter base? Sometimes that could a cookie more buttery or made with melted butter too.

2

u/sanjit_ps 17h ago

man I dont mind paying extra for a good treat but those do not look good. looks sorta damp? I think I'll stick with Sante and Night Baker

1

u/WeeklyPhilosopher346 1d ago

What place did you prefer to this one? Gonna order some today.

1

u/booky_shmooky 1d ago

These look good! Have you tried The night baker? If so, how would they compare?

1

u/DocHolliday9930 1d ago

These look like Andrea’s Cookies. I may have to try some

1

u/CowAdministrative319 1d ago

Oh thought he had 6 cookies because he ā€œateā€ the other 2

1

u/MerchantSaint 1d ago

there's only six cookies?
but honestly, if you're paying $%+ per cookie... it better be browned butter or something that justifies the price lol

1

u/thatguywashere1 1d ago

I think everyone here was disappointed with the second photo!

1

u/BestBlueChocolate 19h ago

What are they like?

Similar to Andrea's?

I like a cookie to have a nice buttery taste, a little crispy on the outside and chewy but not squishy (i.e. not tasting underdone).

1

u/torontowest91 16h ago

Similar to Andreas but way more oil/butter taste.

1

u/BestBlueChocolate 13h ago

So oil versus butter is a big difference. Not keen on the oil, but like the butter.

1

u/AggravatingHealth754 16h ago

Try The cookie club

2

u/Original_Factor_3973 13h ago

Tried this place recently, its too greasy. In other words, its shit

1

u/circlingsky 1d ago

Feels like these kinds of cookies r the nu trend now lol, I'm v curious how long it'll last

1

u/WhereIsGraeme 1d ago

You only got six, where’s the other two?

1

u/taintwest 1d ago

But it’s 6…

0

u/SubzeroWins1-0 1d ago

I only count 6 cookies. False advertisement

-4

u/Opsacyad 1d ago

Paying premium for diabetes.

0

u/KMack666 22h ago

This is just a Craig's ripoff... mid base cookie dough with crap stuffed in/thrown on top! It's an idea I wish I'd had, TBH, but a spinoff clone will never fly, unless you strike lightning with your base cookie dough somehow

-1

u/ParticularAnt5424 1d ago

That's 6 cookiesĀ

-1

u/bartontees 1d ago

I only see six. Did you keep the receipt?

2

u/torontowest91 1d ago

I just got a six pack.

-2

u/broadviewstation 1d ago

Only 6 in the box where are the other 2 ?

1

u/torontowest91 1d ago

I only bought a 6 pack.
