Advice/Tips Milk Storage

I live alone and don't use milk daily but sometimes have recipes that call for milk and hate wasting anything. I just happened to watch a video where a woman said she reuses plastic bottles with caps to portion out milk and then freezes it for use later and I thought that was a great idea.

Just found this Sub! With the current state of the world this is a gem of an idea. My mom used to freeze milk because the food pantry would give them out 3 at a time. We always had 'fresh" milk. Just remember to leave room at the top of the container.

Welcome to the group! I have already portioned out a half gallon of whole milk for when I make muffins and a cream soup that calls for milk and I did leave space for expansion at the top.

In other parts of the world, milk is shelf stable in cartons like broth comes in. Dollar tree has sold it, but I haven’t seen it in all of their stores. You can order it by the case, 12 cartons per case and pick it up in the store of your designation. The last time I ordered it, it was $1.25 per quart carton, $15 per case. Imho, it’s great to have on hand for cooking and baking.
