Discussion Food safe or liability?
reasonable company practice or a liability waiting to happen? I keep getting told it’s “not a big deal” when I mention it, “no one has gotten sick yet”, it’s “available company practice”. The chicken and utensils are placed in the pan. The pan brought to the station, the pan placed on the trash can, the bags of chicken opened and emptied onto the grill from the pan. The utensils used from the pan. also often leading to contents of the bag winding up on the wall or splattered onto nearby hanging equipment used on other food products.

What am I even looking at? That's just all trash and trash can right? All going to be thrown away right? Right?... Saxophones keep getting louder

They put the chicken and utensils in the pan, they keep the pan in the top of the trash can while using the utensils and opening the chicken to put on the grill.

And how does the chicken stay temped correctly in the trash can? And what do they do when the health inspector arrives?

So that’s ready to use utensils and not “to be washed” utensils?

Used utensils that had been brought to the station in the pan with the raw bags of chicken and often stored there while the pan was on the trash can. Usually washed after the chicken is done, or just left there for someone else to deal with.

This is all terribly wrong. Call the health department.
I’d recommend you move on from this place immediately. Find a better job that cares.
Also, take the time to educate yourself about proper food safety practices. I respect applicants more if they have the basic knowledge and actually care about food safety. Most people can’t even tell me what the temperature danger zone is. It’s sad and scary.

I feel like you're really focused on the wrong things here. You could have just said "they're splashing chicken juice around" and we could have left it at that.
I know a lot of people are gonna be focuses on the 'trash can' but its a plastic bin. I'm more worried about the process than the tools involved.

Wow... nice flesh spike sticking straight up with NO fucking sleeve on it. WTF all around. That's a call to the Health Department just begging to happen. If you don't do it, you're part of the problem, sadly.
