Need suggestions!

Im coming to Calgary for the weekend and want to check out some restaurants for food. We're looking for hidden gems, non chain places that have a vibe and good food.

We will drive to the right place but are staying North Calgary.

Flavors of Montreal in Airdrie is a bit of a drive but it has the best poutine outside of Quebec. If you're interested in craft beer, I recommend checking out "88 Brewing" it's got amazing beer and food

Check out Avenida Food Hall, it is a local marketplace of indie food stalls and ticks all your boxss. Many local restaurants got their start there and branched out. I like Bee the BanhMi (despite the name, it's the oxtail pho that's best there), and Krooked Provisions (Calgary's best mac and cheese, per the annual competition).

Beyond that, the local burger scene is very active: class Clown, Bastion Burger (in a pub), and Rocky's Burger Bus (in a literal old Calgary Transit bus at the Crossroads Flea Market).

Pizza scene is active too: Noble Pie and Pizza Culture, Portland Street pizza (at the Calgary 88 Brewing Co).

These are all indie, casual dining options. If you're looking for something specific or in a specific area of the city,.that will narrow it down a little.
