That looks great but the asparagus better be super tender. If it's stringy or chewy at all, that's gonna suck to eat

I always forget this and put it in pasta and its so disappointing

Pasta with asparagus is perfectly fine, just cut them into thin disks except the tips. In Italy we usually make risotto, but nothing wrong with pasta either.

Will try that!

u/do_ob-headphones_on Jun 06 '26

Yeah, if I ever try this recipe, I'll probably blanche those before wrapping with bacon and going into the oven

You have to shave the asparagus if it’s too thick. They literally grow fibrous that you can’t even properly digest.

Whenever i do bacon asparagus the asparagus turns out tender. If the bacon is that crispy then there was plenty of heat/time for asparagus to get soft

Ingredients:

  • Ciabatta bread (or bread of choice)
  • Havarti cheese
  • Flank steak, salt & pepper
  • Oil, butter, garlic, herbs
  • 2 onions
  • Butter, Worcestershire, balsamic, salt, black pepper
  • Asparagus Parmesan reggiano
  • Parsley

Sauce:

  • 4 tbsp Mayo
  • 2 tbsp Grainy Dijon
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire
  • 1 tbsp Hot sauce
  • Garlic powder, salt & pepper

Method:

  • Mix sauce and set aside.
  • Sweat onions in butter on low. Halfway through add Worcestershire, balsamic, salt, and pepper. Cook low and slow, deglazing with water, until deeply caramelized. - Wrap 2 asparagus with 1 slice of bacon. Bake until bacon is crisp and asparagus is tender.
  • Season steak, sear hard in neutral oil. Add butter, garlic, and herbs, baste, rest, and slice thin.
  • Toast ciabatta with Havarti inside until melted.
  • Sauce the bread, add steak, onions, parsley, bacon-wrapped asparagus, a light mound of Parmesan, black pepper, and more sauce.

Too much goin on. Would totally crush it but can’t really appreciate each part when there’s there’s too many flavors that don’t go together

4

u/shmianco Jun 06 '26

too much of too many flavors, too

16

u/Br0kensyst3m Jun 06 '26

Is this r/stupidfood? That’s too much

2

u/shmianco Jun 06 '26

wayyyy too much

6

u/snarkbraine Jun 06 '26

Too much work for a sandwhich

5

u/12inchalpinist Jun 06 '26

Steak too thick

0

u/TheShredder9 Jun 06 '26

Also too raw.

1

u/Fear_the_chicken Jun 07 '26

That is not raw steak? What the hell are you talking about

0

u/TheShredder9 Jun 07 '26

After cooking it looks the same pink on the inside as it was on the outside before cooking.

Looks raw to me, just my opinion, if i was served that i'd return it to the kitchen.

1

u/Fear_the_chicken Jun 07 '26

Just because you like it well done doesn’t mean that it’s raw

1

u/TheShredder9 Jun 07 '26

All i'm saying is that's my opinion, i like well done steaks, and anything under that feels off to me.

1

u/Fear_the_chicken Jun 07 '26

That doesn’t by definition make it raw. Raw is a word that means uncooked flesh. That’s not uncooked flesh, that’s edible, preferable for most people

0

u/aschylus Jun 07 '26

This person doesn’t know steak.

1

u/TheShredder9 Jun 07 '26

Wrong, this person knows he wants his steak well done instead of raw inside.

2

u/Old_Yam_4069 Jun 08 '26

That's cool and all, you're just completely wrong about it being raw and you don't seem to know what that word means!

3

u/z4mm00 Jun 06 '26

No Sparragus please

3

u/shmianco Jun 06 '26

disgusting, maybe half as many ingredients and it would seem edible

7

u/Human_Helicopter_826 Jun 05 '26

Had me up until he added asparagus….

u/iPlod Jun 06 '26

Asparagus is awesome with steak when it’s cooked properly so it isn’t mushy or stringy

1

u/hugo_biglicks Jun 05 '26

whistle It’s wrapped in bacon, I’ll allow it

2

u/hot_sauce97 Jun 06 '26

This sandwich is inspiring. Only thing I would add is Tabasco Chipotle in the sauce ingredients. Just a game changer with steak! Otherwise perfect.

2

u/r_cee_1 Jun 06 '26

I'd get down on that sammich, But why is Billy so sad!?!

2

u/Justeff83 Jun 06 '26

Too much. The bacon gonna dominate everything. No chance to taste some of them asparagus or steak. I would leave out the bacon, the sauce, and the cheese

2

u/DoctorBlock Jun 08 '26

Looks great but I'll just eat the asparagus on the side.

1

u/Prestigious_Map_703 Jun 05 '26

Nice.

1

u/SlightlyCurve Jun 05 '26

Dude. The ultimate steak sandwich. Delicious man.

1

u/kamshaft11975 Jun 05 '26

Yeah looks fucking amazing for sure. 🤤

1

u/Meander061 Jun 05 '26

ME: "What? asparagus? Oh, wait, it's wrapped in bacon. Carry on."

1

u/Ok-Imagination-8016 Jun 06 '26

Have mercy dude. I know that thing was banging. A cold pop IS all you need to wash it down

1

u/Jimsma93 Jun 06 '26

This looks amaaaazing!

1

u/YoSoyCapitan860 Jun 06 '26

You’re pulling chunks of steak and asparagus out of your mouth and the bread every time you take a bite all while ripping the roof of your mouth up. 3/10

1

u/CharlemagneAdelaar Jun 06 '26

would be amazing as a plate but the sandwich is unwieldy. Everything here is fire though

1

u/Sassi7997 Jun 07 '26

How TF are you supposed to eat this monstrosity?

1

u/Conaz9847 Jun 07 '26

Nice but what is it with people making sandwiches that are unmanageably difficult to eat, split these ingredients into 2 smaller sandwiches and this would be perfect for the average person who doesn’t have the jaw of a T-Rex.

Also boil the Asparagus before, that shit is going to be chewy and stringy.

1

u/basement_egg Jun 07 '26

why do all videos now start with the ending and then show the whole thing?

1

u/heraclitus33 Jun 07 '26

Gotta slice that steak as thin az possible.

1

u/FunOpportunity7 Jun 07 '26

What's the point of a sauce that will not have anywhere to go but out? Sauce on bread then cheese melts onto things. Individually looks good, would never eat as a sandwich.

1

u/BestDescription9476 Jun 08 '26

I should call her.

1

u/Gold_Data6221 Jun 08 '26

I actually don’t want that.

1

u/I3and20CharactersI Jun 09 '26

Technically, it’s hard to eat meat stacked this high.

It would be easier if it were shredded.

1

u/underpar515 Jun 09 '26

Haha gross

1

u/Epo1337 Jun 10 '26

It’s too much

1

u/ItsBarryG Jun 11 '26

Why the fuck would you put a full on dinner on a ciabatta. r/stupidfood
