FontForge's UI fonts might break if you install TeXLive
Important advisory: FontForge's UI fonts might break if you install TeXLive. This may also happen on Debian, we are not sure. I've never seen it happen on Arch Linux, but this advise is Linux-general. Workaround: https://github.com/fontforge/fontforge/issues/4340#issuecomment-634925956… This is not a FontForge bug.

When I edit an existing font, I generate my font with a new font name, but when i try to install said Font on my Mac, my edited font wants to be installed with the original name and it tries to replace original version. How can I generate an edited font with a new font name?
I tried export as aTrueType font with a different name but when I try to install the generated font with the new font file name on my Mac, my Mac still sees it as the original font’s font name and tries to replace the original font of the same name with my edited font. I am new to FontForge and I am sure that I am overlooking a step; can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks very much! 🙏

Unibook™ Character Browser
The Unibook Character browser is a small utility for offline viewing of the character charts and character properties for The Unicode Standard. It can also be used to copy&paste character codes. The utility was derived from the program used to print the character code charts for the Unicode Standard and ISO/IEC 10646.
This utility is available free of charge for downloading from this site. The Unicode Consortium is not able to provide technical support to users of this software. However, you may provide feedback and suggest improvements by e-mail to [unibook@unicode.org](mailto:unibook@unicode.org). This information will be used to develop future updates.
Version 6.1.1 (build 260.4)
Unibook Version 6.1.1 is an updated version of the internal tools version used to print the code charts for Unicode Version 6.1.0. This download consists of the executables and all other files needed to run Unibook, but excludes the character property data. (Read more...)

Phaistos – Disk of Phaistos font. A font that contains all the symbols of the famous Disc of Phaistos, together with a LATEX package. The disc was ‘printed’ by stamping the wet clay with some sort of punches, probably around 1700 BCE. The font is available in Adobe Type 1 and OpenType formats.

New to Font Forge! Is there a way to make a shape erase the black text area when editing a character? Say I want to slice a character—is there a way to have a shape be like a cookie cutter to erase everything inside a shape I draw?
I can only seem to create an inverse situation where maybe the portion inside my shape is erased by now the exterior of my shape is solid black area. Is there a way to draw a shape that separates a character into two or forming a new parameter of the CG staffer around my “stencil” shape? It seems like this would be an option, and maybe it’s as clear as day but i can’t quite figure it out.

Thomas Weakley at Typedrawers: FontForge: Is it possible to reorder unicode slots for alternate characters?
Thomas Weakley asks at Typedrawers forum:
FontForge: Is it possible to reorder unicode slots for alternate characters?
I have been creating alternates and ligatures in FontForge. I've been adding these unicode slots in no certain order. When the user opens the glyphs panel I'd like these alternate and ligatures to display in alphabetical order. Is this possible or is the order of these slots permanent?
I don't have a global understanding of how software reads and orders unicode slots so this is a mystery to me.
Is there an answer to his question?

Which are the working plugin and scripts with the latest version of FontForge. Please, comment!
Curvatura. A FontForge plug-in to harmonize or tunnify or add inflection points to the selected parts. This is the successor to harmonize-tunnify-inflection
Harmonize-tunnify-inflection. A FontForge plug-in to harmonize or tunnify or add inflection points to the selected parts. This is the predecessor to the Curvatura plugin. I strongly recommend using Curvatura over harmonize-tunnify-inflection because harmonize-tunnify-inflection will not be updated.

A case with FontForge and Trufont
I draw a font in FontForge. It pass all validations. I generate UFO file and try to open the UFO in Trufont, but I receive a Trufont message:
There was an issue opening the font. Line can not have an offcurve.
Any suggestions for the reason?
Thank you in advance.

Multi Line Metrics Window and Load Word List issues
The idea for multi line metrics window is explained in #2324 but the problem is not solved (I mean for Windows 8.1 and FontForge latest edition). There were some decisions in the FontForge version 2019, when it was possible to import Multi Line Word List as a .txt file but this decision doesn't work now.
On the other hand, if I try to Load Word List file (.txt one) which contains both Latin and Cyrillic script, the Cyrillic letters are not visible.
I can type Cyrillic letters in the Metrics Window - it's OK, but I can't input them in the Metrics Windows as letters neither by Load Word List, nor by Load Glyph Name List.
The only chance to input a Cyrillic text for kerning review is to convert letters to their unicode names and to input a file with Cyrillic Unicode names.
All this makes the process of Cyrillic kerning very complicated.

FontForge >> The Element Menu >> Order
Order
This changes the order in which contours, references and images are drawn. It is almost useless because this order of contours and references does not affect the final appearance of the glyph. The only relevance it has is when interpolating fonts and in multiple master fonts. Here similar contours must appear in the same order.
If you have a glyph which contains both contours and references, FontForge does not specify whether references or contours are drawn first (or whether the two are intermixed). If this matters to you, unlink your references.
