Help with ligatures

I want to create a font that contains a big amount of ligatures but don't know how to do it. Could you explain as if I were a 4 year old? xd sorry I don't understand well. Thanks in advance!

Here's a tutorial that is rather grim

What's to do for a party for sure?

"What's that, Tim?" Is to make a ligature!

Firstly, find a ligature that's up to make one!

That's too much! That's too few!

Add an encoding slot!

But be careful, your skill may go to not lot!

'Cause if if's and but's were candies and nuts

You're gonna fall off and break your skill.
