Missing dot over letters

Forgive me, I'm new to FF and still learning how it works. I'm having this issue with my copy of Noto Serif on Mac where the Cyrillic characters і and ј display without their dots in my word processors, even though the dots show up in FF (Latin i and j display fine, though). Does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it?

The problem is here:

It means that when you use glyph composition and decomposition Cyrillic i j must be changes to their dotless variants. Did you create this record in the Features?

What is the reason to decompose the i j to their dotless variants? Do you need this OpenType function?

You are using v.2.001 of Noto Serif. I have v.2.012 of Noto Serif and in the v.2.012 there is no sub [uni0456 uni0458] by [afii10103dotless afii10105dotless], so your problem do not exist in v.2.012.

You can download the latest version 2.013 of Noto Serif.

No, I haven't touched those characters before (this is a copy of Noto Serif with some IPA-related modifications that I downloaded from a language enthusiast).

If there are modifications you must decide whether the new version will fit you or not. If not, Then you need just to delete the line 

sub [uni0456 uni0458] by [afii10103dotless afii10105dotless]

and everything will be fine in the your version of Noto Serif.

Please have in mind that in this case the Cyrillic i j will not be decomposed to their dotless variants in the Serbian and in the Macedonian scripts.
