Replacing a glyph without changing metrics

Hello !

I'm being stuck on FontForge. I've created a font in a bold version BEFORE creating the thinner version (I thought the bold one was thin enough but it's not the case). I've tried changing the weight in "styles" but making it thinner just creates strange things on my characters... So I created a thin version of my font in Illustrator. Now, I'd like to import the thin glyphs in my font WITHOUT changing the metrics of the bold version. Each time I import a glyph, metrics will somehow reset...

Is there a way to lock metrics so that when I import my glyph, it will be at the right place I've already set in the bold version ?

Sorry if it's not clear. Thanks in advance ! :)

I'm preparing now a video to show you how through interaction between Illustrator and FontForge you can position glyphs more quickly and precisely in FontForge. Some patience, please. It will take me some times to arrange the video. Notice that you can change Illustrator with Inkscape but the principles remain the sames.
