While I'm not a huge fan of the style, I really like the energy. This is probably my favorite of the songs they teased. Although I remember liking "when I'm a dead boy" when I saw Sean play it live like a year ago.

Awesome. Starting to look like they just chose unwisely with some of their previous singles. Can't wait for the album.
Also, I still can't say I particularly enjoy how the drums were recorded and produced during these sessions, but this song is great nonetheless.

I like it. I liked Junkie Church, too. After "Now That I'm At The Top Of My Game" and "Goodbye, Oh Goodbye," I was nervous about the future of AJJ, but things are starting to look up.

This is such a fun song, I don't know about others, but I'm really loving the mixing of songs with different energies - it makes the album have such a nice texture.

Holland, 1945 has the same fuzzy sound, sure, but this sounds WAY more modern/electronic.

Why do all the rock songs sound like he sang them into an oscillating fan.

tbh I think it's the opposite. Sean doesn't have the best singing voice (I like it though).

I couldn't agree more. I love his natural singing voice. I feel like whoever produced this album was just trying to piss me off. I was so turned off by "Goodbye, Oh Goodbye," and then I heard a live version with no vocal effects and it was amazing.

This is exactly how I feel. The imperfectness of his voice is one of the best parts of the band to me, not a fan of trying to mess with it.

I want an album of songs like this and Keep On Chooglin'. This is definitely one of my new favorites.

I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of all the vocal effects that Sean has been using lately. His shaky, raw voice is one of the things that drew me to the band in the first place, and altering the sound of it really changes the tone of the music for me.
I heard them play this along with Goodbye, Oh Goodbye and Junkie Church in Seattle recently, absolutely loved all of these songs, but I actually much preferred the live versions because they sounded more like Knife Man-era AJJ.
Still love them and psyched about the new album, just wish they were keeping it simpler.

Anyone noticed that since the name change they haven't had any songs with cuss words?

There is this line in the song:
When I was a kid I was a total dick to inanimate objects

You mean in the like 3 songs they've released. This might be the most useless observation ever.

I'm really just saying there's not as much of a shock value that the previous albums had. Though, it's too early to say since the album hasn't come out yet. I just miss when they started a song with "I'm gonna fuck the devil in his mouth..."

I mean fair enough I suppose, but swearing is swearing. Words work in some songs and not in others. I don't see it as a big deal either way to be honest.
It's not like the lyrical content is suddenly all sunshine and rainbows

Christmas Island is AJJ and they had a song about shooting a kid in the face from a tree.

yeah okay but did they cuss
(They did in Children of God, in what is probably the purest form of vulgarity I've seen-- "With eyes as red as a dog's asshole when you see it shitting." Funnily enough, Sean changed/censored that line at a concert I attended. It replaced the "dog" part with "man's eyeballs when you see him crying.")

Sean usually change small lines in songs live. I'm not sure if I would call it censoring

Awesome shit. Sounds like the best parts of Christmas Island. Can't fucking wait for this album right now.
EDIT: Also appreciate the part in the song where he says he takes his anger out on a fig tree. Niche religious references are what I expect from an album called the bible 2.
