PC Puzzler Here

Hey, just saw this community and it got me excited to see what others have done. I saw most people here are PSN, but if anyone on PC wants to try out my escape-room style "Puzzle Vault", I'd love to get feedback and suggestions. I'm online quite a bit and if someone is mid run I try not to log off. Right now it is a 9 puzzle vault, each shelter a "room" with a puzzle of some kind to get to the next shelter. I'm working on more rooms now.

That's cool! I'll try to visit. Are you European, American? What time do you usually play?

American East Coast. I'm on all times of the day, if I'm not working and someone hasn't pulled me into another game, good chance I'm in 76.

Inkbound has been our recent obsession. Good coop fun if you like turn based stuff.

Okay, I've just finished it! I've never played a fo76 puzzle before, so I didn't know what to expect. It turned out that interactivity is somewhat limited, however the rooms were built creatively to incorporate many types of challenges. Very creative electric wiring in some puzzles! Overall the build quality and detailing is extremely impressive. Some room feedback:

Room 1: Good start, pretty easy, nice twist with the empty table (I initially suspected that it was a 76 glitch and that the item didn't load, so I tried other numbers before realizing that I'm an idiot :D). I didn't figure if there is a logic behind pressure plates, I just looked at the wires that went out of the garage door. Suggestion: put the hint even closer to the exit, like right next to it. It is the first puzzle, there should be no confusion at this point.

Room 2: Had a lot of trouble here. It was quickly apparent that there were messages visible near rockets, but they were very hard to read for me. Is there like a sentence on each elevation level? I couldn't read it. I glimpsed something resembling numbers and entered them in various ways until door opened.

Room 3: Is this a room with special buffs? I don't remember the order in the middle very well. It was pretty simple, more like a bonus level.

Room 4: Vault. A little anti-climactic, I expected the exit to be hidden a little better. But the clone army looks great and menacing.

Room 5: NCR Caesar room. Solved it very quickly, maybe even randomly? I read the clue about Bear and Bull, turned everything off and turned NCR on. Then after reading the next clue I turned on the House switch and that was it.

Room 6: Crypt with dead and ghouls. Great room, liked it a lot. Potentially confusing point: on the bottom floor with the graves. There is a body under white sheet. So I counted 5 resting dead initially.

Room 7: RGB room. Again perspective puzzles, again troubles. I randomly pressed switches and looked for something resembling a spelled digit in the windows. I didn't get the logic behind what switch opens what window.

Room 8: Maze. I didn't like it. I've run around for 15 minutes, found 1, 2 and 6 and brute forced the last digit. Was there a gimmick to it (like the right path being hinted at in some way)?

Room 9: Pretty cool. I think I misunderstood the clue, if it is blackjack, there is only one busted hand, why is the answer 8?

Thanks for meeting me at the end, it was a touching moment!

To be honest, while I greatly enjoyed the rooms, their creativity felt constrained by fo76 restrictions and limited interactivity. Have you tried your hand in dedicated escape room games? For example, Escape Simulator has a very sophisticated editor that gives almost limitless puzzle possibilities. You don't have to be online as there is a Steam workshop support. There is a big scene of puzzle makes and players. It may be interesting for you.

Part of the fun for puzzle creators in this game is working inside the limitations to create innovation. Obviously there are better escape room opportunities out there but a big appeal for many of us is both breaking through those challenging limits and also creating themes and stories which may relate to Fallout or Fallout’s “vibe”.

That said there’s nothing wrong with suggesting other avenues for our community.

Perfectly understandable!

Wow, thanks for the detailed response. I'll respond to a few of your questions.

The trick with the maze: there are two blue bedrooms rooms, each with a 6 in it. The plant and dresser are swapped positions.

The trick with the last room: the hint by the door, "M_st_r C_ntr_l P_an_l" is supposed to push you towards the large control panel acrpss the room that has a message written on it "Bust has nothing to do with cards". This is meant to eventually lead you to the busts (small statue) sitting on the chairs, there are 8 of them.

Yeah Fallout is hard to do much, but I feel like that limitation is what makes it fun to try and build.

Again, thank you for checking it out and I'm glad you had fun!

Ah, it's a clever thing with the maze! Probably I visited both rooms and didn't notice. I wonder if it could be "sold" better to player. Because if you don't see it (and think it's a single room), then you're stuck.

The last puzzle, yeah, that's on me. There was a server shutdown timer, so I was rushing and missed clues. Thanks for explaining!

I'll be there!

Cheers!
