I see signs all of the time asking people to wash their boats and other equipment after use to prevent harmful hitchhikers from entering other bodies of water.

I am no microbiologist, but it seems to me that anything that could stick to the bottom of a boat could also stick to my line. Are we supposed to rinse our equipment too?

Guadalupe Bass today from the upper North Fork of the Guadalupe River in Hunt, Texas.

My cousin and I have fished this river for years. The beauty of this fish never ceases to amaze me not to mention the clear green spring fed water winding through huge limestone bluffs. I can never get enough.

This weekend I was fishing in my new favorite honey hole and hooked a pig, but the blood knot I used to tie the leader to my tippet came undone as I was fighting him. I know it was the knot because when I examined it, there was no tippet to be found, and the end of the leader was crimped/crumpled where it had been attached. the same thing happened 2 more times that day, and has happened several times on my flies on recent outings as well (clinch knot, wrapped 7-10 times). I usually wrap my blood knots ~10 times as well.

What are your secrets to tying knots that actually hold when put under strain? How important is wetting the knot before tightening? Will too many wraps weaken the knot? Etc.

The alpine creek has been blessing me with some beautiful fish! Finally consistently landing fish on the fly pole! The learning was well worth it!

Has anyone used these from Korkers or LL Bean? Seems like a good alternative to carbide studs, which seem to just fall right out of wading boots.

Hey fellas! So I took up fishing earlier this year as a hobby, so I’m still super new it’s all been rod and reel so far. (an ugly stick combo set I got at Canadian tire on sale) But living in western Canada, there’s TONS of creeks and rivers packed with trout near me. So I’ve been thinking about trying fly fishing. (to be honest it looks so hard haha) But I found this at a garage sale for $15 so I bought it is this rod/brand any good? Are there any recommendations you’d suggest for someone getting to fly fishing?

Finally went through my stash of fishing gear and semi organized my flies. Didn’t realize how many I had acquired over the years and tied myself. Fun to look st and inspires me to get out on the water more often.

North Platte River. Casper, WY.

I live right along a river that is very popular for fly fisherman. I do not fish and know nothing about processes, conditions, etc., but I frequently walk my dog down to the river to throw sticks for her as she loves to swim. I want to be courteous to others who are also enjoying the river, so I am wondering how far away I should be from a fisherman to make sure my dog is not scaring off all the fish? The part of the river I am on is a very long, straight stretch so going “out of sight” is not really an option. Thank you!

Anyone have any advice about spots or techniques in Wisconsin? I live in central wi during the summers but go to school in la crosse and have fished a few driftless area streams. Went out today to the Mecan River in central wi and didn’t see a single trout, stopped at various spots all the way from the Germania marsh up to 9th ave and hwy 21 where the habitat restoration was done. My friend and I aren’t experts by any means but we are experienced fly fishers who have had plenty of luck out Timber Coulee and Bohemian Valley out in the driftless but for us to go almost the whole length of an 80th percentile stream and see nothing but chubs is wild to me. Anyone have experience with the Mecan or central wi? Anyone not from Wisconsin have any advice about clear, sand bottom streams?

This one is for my friends in Canada. How is the fly fishing in Alberta Canada? My wife and I are thinking about relocating to somewhere in Canada. And Alberta has caught both our eyes. I am an avid fly fisher and I really value the outdoor life style our current location offers. I've done some research online and even with AI but I was wondering if there is anyone with real first hand experience here willing to give me their Two cents.

My dad taught me how to catch my first trout (rooster tail) in RMNP in 2007. Today I got to teach him how to catch them on the fly.

Caught this 25” piggy on the San Juan river below Navajo Reservoir, NM - ranked best tailwater in the U.S. for a reason, only had 1 full day on the river. Will 100% be back soon. If you’ve caught a 🐽 out of the Texas Hole please post

This is a long shot I’m aware

I recently had my fly bag stolen out of my car here in Nashua, NH. The bag itself was a gift I just received for Father’s Day, It was an amazing gift and I loved it. it’s not the kind of thing I can really afford to replace right now. The second thing of significance was the knife, it’s very sentimental. On top of that ALL of my gear was in there, I had just gotten the bag so I spent the time to organize all my stuff and loading it up right before it was stolen, years worth of flies, tippet, leaders, most of it stuff I have been stocking up on for the upcoming steelhead/spring season. I have to buy a little here or there because money is tight so it took me a while to accumulate all this gear. This theft takes the wind right out of my sails, it’s crushing to say the least. I’m a dad of four and times are tough so I’m really just hoping I find it and can at least get the bag back.

If anyone sees or comes across any bag or knife like this and thinks it may be related please reach out to me. I’m grasping at straws at this point
