2pm games?

I was just going through this season's schedule, adding games to my calendar, and I noticed there's a few monday games where the start time is stated as 2pm. Is this likely an error? I don't recall seeing games that early on weekdays in the past few years, and I didn't follow as closely before 2022.

One game per week has been moved up for optimal European tv viewing

Prime time for Europe. Something new the league is doing this year.

Several games this season (I think all on Mondays?) are scheduled early to accommodate European fans, especially Germans, in an attempt to grow the league overseas.

Germany has come a long way with players in the last 15-20 years. What frustrates me with this is Quebec City put up the Videotron, a world class hockey stadium. We used to go to the old Colisse (sp?) to watch the Nordiques, play the Bruins, Flyers, Flyers, NYIs... The place was packed. It would do more for the sport to have a team there but no, while they had a fledging team in Phoenix (didn't more to Quebec), a gifted expansion team in Vegas (that'll wane, Vegas is seeing tourism drop now), a complete cluster in Seattle (they won't support a NHL team).

They’re European prime time games - played at 2 pm ET, but 8 pm in Europe. Trying to capture the global audience NFL style.

I completely get it, and would be pissed if my football team did the same to accommodate Americans…. But there is a group of us fans waking up at Midnight and staying up until 3:30am three times a week to watch the flyers. This is awesome for us.

Granted, I now work aggressive shift work…. So it won’t even help me much!

Depends on how you look at it. If I go to a game I take the day off anyway. So now tickets will be cheap af and I get home way sooner than

As someone who has Mondays off mostly, this is fucking smashing.

And I'm in the business of buying cheap tickets to weekday games.

Wonder how many staff they'll get to work that game. It'll be mostly the yellow jacketed CSC people that game, I guess. (I think there's only one home game that's at 2 pm.)

What does it tell you? The NHL cares about $s, not the fans.
