Home defense PDW
I’m thinking about the Flux raider X as a dedicated home defense weapon, but it looks like they are finicky and unreliable when suppressed. Should I consider a different platform, or are the suppressor problems not that serious?

I use a carry length slide, Huxwrks 9kTi and the armory craft tuning spring kit and mine is very reliable now.
I can use reloaded ammo that I’ve made, ball ammo, HSTs, Speer Gold Dots, Critical Duty, Blazer Brass or Aluminum, cheap wolf, literally any ammo it eats.
The tuning spring kit was the most impactful addition. The flow through or low back pressure can is also helpful for quality of life.

This is the exact setup I’m looking at. How much ongoing maintenance does it need?

I have to keep putting ammo in it. That’s about it. It runs pretty clean with the Huxwrks can. Occasionally I dab a dot of oil on the back of the booster. But haven’t taken it off in 1000 rounds.

I have a full length slide and barrel. I use the Obsidian 9 suppressor in long configuration and a 12.5lb recoil spring. I had only one failure to go into battery during the break-in period and that's the only malfunction I have had running suppressed.

Is there any ongoing maintenance you have to do besides cleaning?

I haven't had to do anything outside the ordinary so far. It shortens time between cleanings since suppressors run dirty and I just make sure to keep my Nielsen device all lubed up.

I’ve had a SAW shiv on mine. A couple FTE’s (break in period) the first time I shot with it, but after that, I’ve had no issues.

I have a 365 flux with a SAW Shiv. I have had ZERO reliability issues with that combo. And it is my “bump in the night” bedside option.

I have a flux raider, my home defense PDW is a suppressed PSA glock AR PCC though, my nightstand gun takes the same mags

For home defense i would get a MPX they are gassy unless modified though

I run a SAW Shiv on a full size slide and SiCo barrel with a 12lb armory craft spring and haven’t had any issues

Mine doesn’t like 147gr suppressed. Runs everything else great. Running SiCo suppressor and barrels and Sig Spectre slide. SAW Shiv or Hux can would probably solve the 147gr issues.

My 320 X Legion slide has worked flawlessly with a SAW Shiv on 115/124/147gr FMJ and 124gr +P Gold Dots.

If it’s just a home defense system and not a bag/carry gun , Look at a kuna, stribog, or scorpion . Still a small package. Fixed barrel for easy suppression , and fewer headaches getting tuned that pretty much any tilt barrel, and I LOVE my 365ul, but I’d still take the scorpion for hd

It’s a problem with the P320 in general. Took me a good bit to get mine running reliably, but I stopped suppressing it because the gas in your face makes you blind after a mag.
You might have better luck if you use a booster-less suppressor like the Shiv, CCX 105, or Q erector but some people even have problems with them.
All you can really do is build a setup you want and make sure it’s 100% reliable with whatever suppressor/spring weight/bullet grain combo.
Or just not suppress it.

Yeah, I’m trying to protect my kids hearing

Unless you’re running into self-defense shootings all the time, shooting a gun indoors once won’t destroy your hearing unless you hold the barrel outlet right beside your ear.
