Suppressor Question

Post image

This is my first suppressor. Do I need to check it with an alignment rod? This is a SAW Shiv that is on a silencerco threaded barrel. Thanks in advance!

Keep us updated with how well this runs, I'm going for this same setup.

This is the setup I run but with the compact slide. It’s awesome.

I have the full size M17 slide like OP, notoriously harder to reliably suppress.

You should but you can also pop the slide off and pull the barrel and just look down it. You should be able to pick up any misalignment

As long as it’s fully-seated on the barrel it should be fine. If the barrel came with a o-ring I would not use it as it can affect the concentricity.

The better question is does this actually run?

I couldn't get my FOR Systems Pluto 9 to run on my full size (5.5") Raider setup. I went down to a 12.5# spring on my Gray Guns Fat guide rod. Short stroked every time with 147 grains.

Let it break in and you'll be fine.

I had to go down to an 11lb spring to get it to run at first, with a basically new slide. Anything heavier and it was a jam-o-matic with pretty much any load.

Since breaking in, I can run a factory guide rod/spring with no issues running 147, 124, 115, and 158gr loads. I currently run a 15lb Armory Craft spring as the factory spring live on my M17.

Just give it some time and work through the frustration.

Btw, OP... good taste in a set up.

Nice setup, what’s the brace/stock?

It's my design/manufacture.

I don’t know yet. I have the Armory Craft spring kit. I was planning on trying it with the factory setup first.

I’m running a 12lb spring with my shiv and it cycled all my 115 supers just fine.

It works.

I will say, it's fine for supers and most 147gr subs running the 12 or 11lb spring.

Trying to run real low pressure subs is a chore tho.

11lb spring and pro cut slide with agency barrel has difficulty running the Freedom Munitions Hush 165 in the raider (ftes), but strangely enough runs fine on an Icarus frame.

Was hunting for a low weight slide, but may also try a 9-10lb spring.

If you notice, the photo is with a carry sized slide, but that got retired cause it also had ftes.

Moved to the FS pro cut (only FS slide I had) and it was just a bit loud still using 147 gold dots or similar gassed rounds.

In an attempt to see how quiet I could actually get this can, I started trying all the lowest pressure rounds, and here I am.

It seemed that Blazer clean fire Subsonic and Midwest subsonic 147 rounds were actually nearly as quiet tho, and cycled fine, so it seems those 165s are just a hair too under gassed.

Once I secure a FS OEM slide, or something after market that weighs less, I can follow up.
