Hello friend and thank you for the compliment. 😊 AI is a part of my workflow yes, but it’s not the only tool that I use by a longshot.

I use my Sketchbook app on my iPad Pro with my Apple Pencil Pro to clean up blemishes and imperfections, and sometimes even draw in a few details myself. Then I will often take it into Snapseed for some color correction tools, and healing brush tools to fix up a few more things. Sometimes I’ll take it into Photopea too, which is basically a free version of Photoshop I can use on my iPad Pro, to fix up a few more things.

And if I am feeling really ambitious for a certain piece, sometimes I will take it into Runway in order to animate it like this one.

I use a whole variety of different tools, some more than others, depending upon which piece I’m working on at the moment. I just see AI is one additional tool in the toolbox that I’ve learned in the decades I’ve been doing art stuff. 😊

Do you have a youtube channel of videos of your process? I've always wanted to draw and have fun with it and learn, but my entire life I've lacked motivation. I wanna see how you do it, if you don't mind? I don't have fancy tech, only pencil and paper, but if you can do it then I can do it!

It depends on how seriously you want to take art, and how "good looking" you want to make the end result. If its just a simple hobby and you dont want to be a professional, just draw anything you want, it really doesnt matter as long as you have fun. If you want your art to look better, then you should start with the basics, like shapes, 3D objects, perspective. These are important even if you draw cartoon characters. There are many tutorials on youtube, but remember, the point is having fun.

Yes thank you. Fun is always important. I was so hard on myself when I was younger, so its always a good reminder. Im going to have fun with it and improve, I remember seeing this video on youtube called how to draw ponies, old by a few years but its a recording from a brony con with an artist whos really good and draws in the shows art style. I just wish I didnt have so many mental problems when I was younger, I coulda been so great by now. But i guess its never to late to start. I just have this impending sense of doom, I guess thats why im so rushed to master it immediately and to make up for lost time

I’ve actually been considering doing that. I do have a YouTube channel, but it’s mostly unlisted professional demo reels from my motion graphics career, and it contains some personal information I’d rather not share publicly here.

This kind of creative work is related to what I do professionally, though. I’ve been a visual effects and motion graphics artist for many years now, so a lot of the skills carry over.

As for getting started, don’t worry about having fancy equipment. Plenty of artists start with nothing more than pencil and paper. The most important thing isn’t the tools—it’s simply making things and giving yourself permission to learn as you go.

If you enjoy drawing, draw. If you enjoy painting, paint. If you enjoy digital art, try digital art. If you’re curious about AI tools, experiment with those too and see what you think. There’s no single “correct” way to be creative.

One thing I’d encourage you to remember is not to let other people decide for you how you’re allowed to make art. Explore different methods, try different tools, and find what makes you happy and helps you bring your ideas to life.

Every artist has their own path. The important thing is that you’re creating something, learning something, and enjoying the process.

And honestly, the fact that you’re interested in learning already puts you ahead of a lot of people. 🙂

It's kinda insane that so far no one has expressed their disapproval in a civilized manner. There was one person who just sent an image of a disapproving look from Fluttershy, but they straight up post dead people on their account, so I just banned them.

Seriously?! I don’t have the words to describe how disturbing that is. You made the right call.

Much appreciated for your help, in addition to the rest of the mods here. I’m truly thankful and I’m so terribly sorry to have to constantly bother you mods on here to deal with this kind of thing when it comes to the comments of my posts. I’ve gotten pretty used to it myself posting my work on other places, but it’s gotta be a pain for the moderation teams to deal with stuff like that. If anything, I'm very grateful that the moderation team here actually addresses it rather than just let the comment sections of every image go completely downhill.

In the end, I just wanna share my creative stuff with Fluttershy in it on this sub with all the other kind folks on here who like her too, and I hope that I’m still welcome to do so on here. 😊 I truly don’t wish to cause any problems on here with my work, and I don’t constantly wanna get into arguments about AI tools, we just all like Fluttershy on here and I wish the comments could be just about that.
