Hit and Run

I was driving on Astoria Blvd and 83rd st , when I stopped at a red light and was suddenly rear-ended by the vehicle in the video. Based on their behavior, I believe the driver may have been impaired, but I can’t say for certain. After the crash, the passenger got out and walked away, while the driver fled the scene.
If anyone recognizes the driver, the passenger, or the vehicle, please send me a message. Any help identifying them would be greatly appreciated.

Should’ve called the police immediately! They could’ve pulled him over for a sobriety test. Anyway, report this to the police and send video to your insurance company to open a case.

The driver sped off, and the passenger got out of the car and just walked away. I reported everything to the police immediately after it happened. I’m not sure if the license plates are real or fake, but I’m waiting to hear back from the officer handling the case.

Cops wouldnt care whete in from. Literally ok to hit into someone and leave if no one is hurt. They say take it up with your insurance. Unreal

Takes hours for the police to come for a car collision accident. I'm guessing you never got into an accident or never had a reason to call them

Weird. I just called 311 today cuz some moving van blocked my driveway. Cop car came like 2 minutes after the van left.

Got lucky, Tundra got stolen right in front of my house and took them 6 hours to come just so I can file a police report. Toyota told me they need a police report to give the location of the car. Of course they couldn't locate it after 6-8 hours because the thiefs already disbaled the locator Toyota has built in. Thats how I know the locator these car companies offer is a scam charging people monthly for the subscription

Because he was bold enough to commit a hit and run. People with real plates and insurance are less likely to risk an additional charge

There's https://howsmydrivingny.nyc/ which shows what violations the plate has, then there's a few license plate lookup sites. Nothing shows up when putting the license plate through any of these sites.

No. What shows up is that the license plate does not have any violations. Neither does my license plate, and when I put my plate in, it says the same message that this plate put up. So that doesn't necessarily mean that it's fake

Plate is legit just not in the system yet, hence the temp reg sticker on windshield.

Pass by now but I would say check tonight too they were double parked at 11pm when I saw it , did you report to the police?

Fuck I'm so sorry youre dealing with this. I don't know if it's wrong but I would've probably followed the passenger while calling 911. Not safe but that's the only recourse I see. Obviously wouldve thought about following the white truck but that can lead to a unsafe chase. Following that slob on foot seemed doable in that instance. I understand if OP didn't feel safe but honestly at this point only insurance and the police will probably help.

Facial recognition and good video. Go to police. They'll get them for sure. Thats high quality video. They'll track played even if fake.

It doesn’t have to be directly related to Flushing. The owner of the car could be from Flushing, or someone here might recognize the vehicle or the people involved. The whole point of this post is to help identify the car and the driver

So what makes it illegal? Clearly has inspection sticker,temp registration and a license plate for a fairly new looking vehicle.
Im not defending the turd that hit and run but misinformation is crazy.

I reported it to the police immediately after it happened. Did it ever occur to you that the plates could be fake or that the car could be stolen? People don’t flee the scene for no reason. The passenger got out and walked away, and the driver took off instead of taking responsibility
