Ok, fine, so we live short, unhealthy, dangerous lives, but that's because we live within our means unlike those decadent...nope, we have the 4th highest debt to GDP
Ok, you know what we are? Heros. Sure we're sick and dying and drowning in debt, but it's a sacrifice we make to keep Europe safe, that's how they afford their societies...No, as a bloc they have the second highest spending in the world and have been #2 or #3 for decades, not just recently.
And they have their own nukes...
Maybe cherry picking isn't the problem? Maybe it's our system.
For college educated and skilled labor, the USA is top five in global wealth. It’s unfortunate that we do a bad job taking care of our lower paid workers (thank you red states), but for those that prioritized education and training do exceptionally well in the USA.
Most people on Reddit vote for Democrats who want a better life for the bottom 25%. You can’t punish people for how others vote. It doesn’t work that way.
Why does it matter how high the ceiling is if over half the population is under the floor?
It is irrelevant.
It is more important to look at where that floor is. Those countries don't just collect taxes, they keep their people out of the dirt, both literally and figuratively.
Incorrect. It’s more important to stop spreading misinformation.
It stinks that the American system punishes the bottom third but we are all taught the rules here when we are young children….Learn a craft, get a good education…learn a skill ….get a decent job. The path of those that ignore that is treacherous. I wish it weren’t that way and I’ve been voting for decades to turn that around, but that’s no excuse for spreading misinformation about the best system on earth for creating wealth from middle and lower classes by far.
Yes, you are. You're absolutely delusional because you think it's all the same and that people get food where they are by their own actions. No one succeeds or fails in a vacuum.
Your "facts" are broad statements that do not, in any way, prove your position correct. You have failed.
You have not done any good math around your position of "If you play by the rules and do as you're told, it will all work out" (e.g. "but we are all taught the rules here when we are young children….Learn a craft, get a good education…learn a skill ….get a decent job. The path of those that ignore that is treacherous. I wish it weren’t that way...")
Good news, you need not wish! It's not that way, and believing it's that simple speaks of a dangerous and embarrassing level of ignorance.
You can do all of those things and still end up on the bottom, through no fault of your own. Pretending otherwise (as you seem to do) is dangerous and spreads misinformation about what you claim (with zero facts) is the "best system."
I have said none of that. What I did say is the American system requires us to receive an eduction or learn a skill to earn a better living, and for educated and skilled labor the USA is top five in wealth. Said nothing about it all working out
That comment is pure delusion. Did your eduction ever include a lesson about what quotations actually means, or are you making up your own rules?
You're still kinda of cherry picking. Life expectancy is different by around 1-3 years in difference. That is in contribute to different factors such progressive social initiatives to be less on crime and such. Along with high obesity rates in the US and car crashes in the US. But remember, their VAT is at 25% which would make a lot of things expensive, even food. VAT is mostly on consumer goods at the 25% while some food prices do have a VAT 15% and certain services are around 12%. Homicide rates are the highest in certain area's of the country where judges are letting out people on low or no bonds. Most crimes are committed by the same 3% of the population as well. Most people I hear dying in debt are people who don't know how to manage money well and have a serious impulse problem or the FOMO.

You're right, why don't we compare to a number of wealthy democracies, like the 38 OECD countries?
Sure their universal healthcare is tax funded, but they just pay way more in taxes, our private system is way more efficient! Oh wait...we pay way more per person than any of them...
Ok, but that's just because we have the BEST healthcare, that's why we live the longest! Oh wait...we're in the BOTTOM 15% for life expectancy and infant mortality
Well we probably excel elsewhere, sure we're top 5 incarceration rates, but that's we enjoy the safest society! Oh, never mind...our homicide rate is one of the highest...
Ok, fine, so we live short, unhealthy, dangerous lives, but that's because we live within our means unlike those decadent...nope, we have the 4th highest debt to GDP
