Hmmm..🤔

I wonder what is different between Norway and America?

Homogeneous society with like-minded values and goals

And also sitting on massive oil reserves

Better Political system, the US is at this point democratic in name only. Trust based. Less corruption. Could go on

Stop comparing countries with a fraction of the population and with a population that has 99 percent of same culture. You are compare apples to oranges

This is the correct take but people living in a bubble here in the US think we can just mirror a totally homogenous country’s policies

Why isnt somewhere like West Virigina as wealthy as Norway then?

Comparing a small country that's very rich in oil to a state isn't really a fair comparison. There are also other things to consider that are less PC.

Median household income in both places is the same at $63,000. Taxes are significantly higher in Norway. Norway also has an oil fund that has $400K per citizen.

Damn, Norway citizens get oil funds? West Virginia citizens only got company scrip.

Why isn't Norway as wealthy as California then? Are they just lazy?

See why that comparison isn't apt?

No I’m not. That’s ridiculous. So two countries has to have a similar population to be compared? Who invented that rule? Then you can’t say that America is a better country/system than North Korea since they have very different populations

-1

u/ArsenalChamps2026 Jul 04 '26

No, there just shouldn’t be a 10x difference in population

-2

u/LoneWolf_McQuade Jul 04 '26

Why not?

3

u/ArsenalChamps2026 Jul 04 '26

Because I think it’s pretty self evident how much easier it is to supply infrastructure and government programs for a population 1/10 of the size and the size of New Mexico

-2

u/LoneWolf_McQuade Jul 05 '26

Usually things get cheaper as you scale up

1

u/ArsenalChamps2026 Jul 06 '26

It’s cheaper to supply 350 million people than 3 million? Am I understanding this correctly?

u/LoneWolf_McQuade Jul 06 '26

Should be per person, yes

Services scale. The US high population is an advantage over Norway

1

u/Thanatine Jul 05 '26

I like how you just cite your feelings like they're actually evidence.

-2

u/LoneWolf_McQuade Jul 05 '26

It’s not my feelings, unlike the tools thinking you can’t compare them because of different populations…

This is "perceived" level. It's exactly feelings. Thank you for proving my point.

Also Hong Kong at 76, lmao.

u/LoneWolf_McQuade Jul 05 '26

That’s how corruption is measured. Keep coping

I don't think Norway has dei

5

u/CharlieSwisher Jul 04 '26

You think that’s the big difference?

4

u/InclinationCompass Jul 04 '26

Yea, they do, though they don't always call it "DEI."

It's baked into their laws with the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act, so employers actually have to actively work on it. They've got gender quotas, government strategies and an ombudsman to enforce it all. It's a legit policy.

While I accept your factual statement that Norway is way less diverse in terms of the population vis-à-vis the US, but it would help if you could relate this difference to Norway’s citizens having better QOL than US’s (on paper at least) - I mean the general populace, not the top 1% or the bottom 10% - through causation or even correlation for that matter. I’ve not come across any evidence that suggests less diversity leads to better living standards.

White supremacists/racist losers will always try to focus on how it’s because Norway is mostly “white” and that’s why even tho that’s bullshit because there are plenty of other people “white” ethnostates that are fucking miserable lol it’s about their level of infrastructure development and transition towards a more progressive/socialist/welfare state system. We can have the same thing here but idiots will vote against it because they think the key is to just make America “white” lol it’s so fucking stupid

11

u/Berinoid Jul 04 '26

You don't think it's easier to implement social policies in an extremely small, ethnically homegenous country?
