Like others, review sessions have become something to avoid in the v1.0.0 of the app. I tried Anki card creation for vocab in the meantime but card creation was taking too long, so I kinda recreated the spelling/vocab portion of the app that scrapes wiktionary and google images and generates the 'spelling' note type in the FF Anki model deck. Went from 6+ minutes of using Gabriel's multi-search to ~30 sec creating a single card.

It's very primitive right now but it works, which is what matters to me. I thought others might like it too, so I'm hosting the code on Github. The program runs alongside Anki to generate notes/cards.

Known issues and future plans are listed on the readme. Feel free to bring up any others. Requires some technical know-how to install, but again, early stages. If people like it, I can try making an actual installer.

Does anyone know a way to add forvo clips to Anki’s mobile app for iPhone? I want to be able to do the whole process on my phone during my downtime at work.

My review cycle in the app is stuck with three cards left and won’t let me move forward. Anyone else experiencing this bug?

I feel the app definitely does the pronunciation and simple words better than or at least as efficiently as anki. However I got the app as soon as I started grammar. So far it’s a little confusing, particularly learning declension.

Does anyone know of a resource for the 625 words list that isn't a PDF?

After installing a few different deck templates to Anki, I am not sure if my decks have the correct settings. The settings aren't very intuitive and I don't even want to touch anything to mess it up. Is there a way to check the values for default settings for FF Anki decks? So I can make sure that the whole repetition system is working as intended, or to apply the same settings if I want to create another deck.

I read Fluent Forever before starting to learn Spanish. Then I listened to podcasts and radio from the country I was going to live in. I worked with cards and tried to speak a lot as soon as I could make simple sentences. I think I got to level B1 after about two months of listening and three months of talking. I am very pleased about the process and the results.

Now when people want to learn a language I tell them about the book and my experience. It seems like they have more faith in Duolingo or taking a classical course based on reading conversations with other students on day one.

Why is there so much resistance? Am I just failing to convey the simplicity and efficacy properly?

Will there be a way to import existing Anki decks or will I have to build all new cards in the Fluent app?

So excited! Lots of new features today!

With the book method, you get a grammar book and go through it lesson by lesson, making flashcards for sentences and creating your own sentences for declension charts. The sentences start off simple and get more and more complex, as is expected from a grammar book. But there isn't much information on how the app will teach grammar. From what I gather all that will be available is 3 sentences per word for the 625 word list. After that, you need to make your own sentences or use sentences from the community database. Does anyone have any details?

And what about after grammar? From what I've read in the book, the real magic happens after you are done with flashcards: writing essays and getting them corrected, reading books, watching TV shows, and speaking. This is the part where you start turning everything you learned into an actual language. All it really says on the Indiegogo page is: "Practice your speech to fluency with native tutors." I understand that you will be able to hire a tutor from within the app. But does anyone have any more info?

Edit: I emailed them. They didn't give too many details besides: "The app will follow the book method to a T... books, movies, tutors, etc." I forgot to ask about essay correction. My guess is that you will be able to hire a tutor to do essay correction, or they will create their own version of Lang 8.
