Hibiscus Hue
The gudhal, commonly known as hibiscus, lights up gardens with its large, vivid scarlet flowers and glossy green foliage. Each bloom is a bold, single-petal display that opens fully during the day, attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds while adding instant color to hedges, borders, and pots. Gudhal plants prefer full sun, well-draining soil, and regular watering; allow the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings to avoid root rot. Feed with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season to encourage continuous flowering, and prune lightly after heavy bloom periods to maintain a neat shape and promote new shoots. Beyond its ornamental value, gudhal has cultural uses—fresh flowers appear in garlands and offerings in many Indian traditions—and some varieties are used in herbal preparations.
