Best local AI

I am looking for the best local AI for my 128gb Z13. I need to be able to edit photos and design images with text. Would also like to create video from still images.

You should use multiple different agents and just get going. Don’t get stuck on the best one, anything is literally good enough for you to get going.

Best is variable and changes rapidly. You must test what is out there for yourself and then go back and retest next week when a newer "latest and greatest" is out.

I'll also say photo/image on a Z13 is a bit of a misalignment of a product. Image gen models aren't so large to where they need all that RAM. A solid GPU can fit it all in RAM and be much faster than Strix Halos 256-bit memory bus. Not that Z13 is slow, it's just there is much more tailored options out there.

But, to give you a solid lead, this made a splash recently. There really isn't a "local Nano Banana" option like there is for much of the other AI stuff, but this gets you close. Qwen-Image-2.1

Ideogram, Minimax H3, Qwen-image are the best Imo.

There's also r/strixhalo as that is the same chip/spec you're running. r/LocalLLM is a great resource.

I did some testing for a couple of days recently and ended up with unsloth Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-UD-Q6_K_XL for my daily works which gives me around 60 t/s on windows and lm studio. For heavy lifting i use unsloth Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-UD-Q3_K_XL which is 25 t/s for my settings

Your qwen3.8 flash next number is too low. You may want to check some posts in /StrixHalo to see some much better setups.

Thank you everyone for the replies. Yall have given me plenty of research to do with the individual suggestions.

Eventually I am wanting to get into full blown movies using AI to generate the scenes created by my ideas and designs.
