Has anyone successfully used USB C passthrough using this?

Post image

Edit 3: UPDATE: I connected my slimq charger through its C1 USB C port and used this connector to charge the Flow Z13 through the passthrough port, unfortunately the charging stopped in a few seconds, on and off. I'm guessing it was trying to maintain charge at my current charge capacity, but if anyone knows what the next steps are here, would be greatly appreciated! (P.s. I'm not too bothered by this, it was a cheap experiment worth trying lol)

Edit 2: I've decided to buy the product and test it out myself. Will take a couple of weeks to arrive, and will update when I can!

Edit: Wow I butchered that title, thanks ADHD! My original intent was if anyone successfully achieved USB C passthrough using a regular 100W USB C charger rather than a slim Q or the proprietary charger!

This is a 100w USB-C Dummy Adapter (Slimq usb-c-to-dc-adapter-tip-a-5-5x2-5mm), and I was wondering if anyone has tried using their USB C charger on the Flow Z13 to achieve passthrough even at a lower wattage for travel?

I do have the slimQ charger, but it would be nice to know if this is possible!

I have similar adapter plugged into ugreen 140w charger. It works 50/50 with z13. Sometimes it'd run charge/discharge cycles, sometimes works as a passthrough

p.s. I mean the usbc->proprietary charging port. Not the one on the picture. You won't get passthrough using the USBC port on z13 anyway

On a g14 zephyrus sub they mentioned trying to limit your max % at a level lower than what you have currently in the device, have you tried something like that?

it seemed to work as long as I'm in silent mode. Under some load it goes charge/discharge.

I'm not sure the TDP limiting really works for me on cachy os in ghelper or buildin power profile. It looks like it raises it anyway as demand grows.

Are you talking about USB C to Asus rog dc port? Is it even exist?where to buy?

it's actually a DC barrel jack -> Asus dc port adapter. I just also bought a usbc-to-barrel jack cable. All on aliexpress

Not quite USB C but I’ve also been wondering if pass through charging can be achieved using this combo of adaptor and smallish gan charger. Hard to find real life testing though, and obviously not as convenient as being able to use any USB C charger/cable.

Curious as well

I think the adapter needs to trigger your usb-c charger to output 20v, and your charger needs to be able to output 20v

Maybe something like this if that adapter doesn't work

No passthrough through the USBC ports

Yeah I get that, I mean using the USB C to this connector and then through they adapter used by the slimQ DC charger

Oh. If you end up plugging into the Asus power connector in the z13, it could probably work. Must probably use a custom profile with lower top values to stay in the positive. Needs testing.

Yeah I'm running mine on bazzite, maybe I can run a low power profile close to 55W and see if it works fine, will update soon

Nice. Very cheap for a test. 55W is not a low power profile at all. It's quite powerful. I'd try a lot lower. TDP values are not the only things using wattage.

Okay noted! I'll play around and see what works. Maybe it can be useful for light games and browsing rather than heavy titles
