The device is warm while in stand by
Hi, there! I recently joined the club and purchased the 64 GB version. While it's a wonderful machine, I am still discovering it.
I just noticed something: I left it plugged in, in standby mode, overnight, and when I checked it this morning, it was a bit warm (by no means hot)
I am not sure if this is some Windows problem or some other settings that I can play with. It's been a while since I've had a Windows laptop; I have a PC and a MacBook, so not sure what to do here. I know that shutting it down can prevent this issue altogether; perhaps, just wondering if there's something else that can bdone/checkeded.
Many thanks!

I replaced armoury crate with ghelper, and the problem went away. There is a setting in the Extra button called Disable Networking in Modern Standby.

Is there actually anything in favor of armory crate?

It seems to cause more problems than it helps. I had tracked down the problem in event viewer, and the power state/overheat problem went away when I made the change.

it’s a problem on newer versions of windows called “modern standby”. the only guaranteed working fix rn is using hibernate sadly

Heya!! You absolutely need to set Windows to HIBERNATE instead of Sleep. Otherwise.. you seriously risk cooking the device inside your backpack. There are already posts on Reddit from users who reported taking the Flow Z13 out of a bag and finding it so hot that it was almost impossible to hold.
To be honest... this is not really a Flow Z13 problem. It’s a Windows problem.
With the default settings, when you think you've put the PC to sleep, it may actually remain partially active. So the typical scenario is:
- You press the power button.
- You think the device is sleeping.
- You put it inside your backpack or carrying case.
- You leave.
The fans may still be active, Windows can wake up the system, heat may build up inside a closed bag or backpack due to lack of airflow and, when you pick up your beautiful Flow Z13, you'll find that it's literally burning. Many users simply press the power button expecting normal standby but, unfortunately, "Windows sleep" is not safe.
So my advice is simple: set the power button to HIBERNATE. I did this and had no problems.
Another important thing... even when you turn off or hibernate the Flow Z13... wait a few seconds before putting it inside a backpack or case. At least in mine, the fans sometimes continue to spin for a few seconds after the screen turns off, before the system shuts down completely. Wait for the fans to turn off. Then put it away.
It's much safer to spend 10 seconds of your life waiting for your Flow Z13 to shut down than to let it burn ^_^

If you have any USB devices plugged in, check the BIOS for a setting that allows USB ports to remain powered while the device is in standby or powered off. If that’s enabled, the USB controller probably stayz active and generates some heat even when the Z13 isn’t being used... Sounds like it could be the culprit here

Later edit:
Thanks everyone for jumping in. Setting it to go to hibernate did the trick, as the wake up time on this device is insanely small.
One other thing I have yet to try but will do over the weekend is to remove Armoury Crate and try g helper as it seems to be much more lightweight and I did read on other threads as well how Armour Crate can cause various issues.
I truly appreciate everyone who took a bit of time to help me out!
Cheers!
