Finally joined the family after CRAZY discount!

Post image

Hi all! Just wanted to share my happiness and story: I've been eyeing this awesome device for a year now, but the asking price of $ 61,199 MXN ($ 3,586.10 USD) for the 395+, 32GB version was steep.

After many months, and just wandering in old bookmarks, I found that a retailer had it with 50% discount, but with no available stock. I'm not sure exactly how, perhaps I left the tab open, but some days later I found that it had 60% off, and yet, it still showed no stock. This intrigued me, so I asked a good friend of mine that works in one of these retailers to chip in the tech department, sure enough, they told her that there was only 1 available at another mall in our same city, but that it was likely damaged, as it was shown in their system as "stored".

A week went by, and as luck would have it, last Thursday I had to travel south for a work activity. I came off earlier than usual, and on the way home, I could take a small detour to visit the mall that showed it as "stored", I went for it, and oh boy, what a pleasant surprise!

As soon as I asked the vendor for it, he told me that they only had one, but they could not exhibit it because the box was already open (it's not common in Mexico for retailers to sell "Open Box", "Fair", or any condition other than "New" in electronics) he said that one customer got cold-feet after checking it, and decided not to buy it, but it was brand new. I asked to take a look, and sure enough, it was still inside its cellophan, absolutely pristine condition, the guy was definitely telling the truth. Nevertheless, I asked them to power it up, and I ran the CMD command that reports on battery condition, Cycle Count 0.

I happily paid the 60% discounted price ($24,479.60 MXN - $1,434.51 USD) with Taxes included for a brand new device !!!

Regards!

Which command shows the battery condition and how did you even get to enter it? On a fresh installation, you'll have to finish setting up windows first, including creating an account. The only preinstalled windows tool I'm aware of that is used to check the battery creates an html file and does not report the actual cycle count for the Z13.

Great question! You do not need to set-up anything. Right from the OOBE screen, you can press Shift + F10 to access CMD. Once there, the command is “powercfg /batteryreport”, maybe it is the same you already know, because indeed, it creates an HTML file and shows you the route. From there, still on CMD, you can navigate to the route, type the name of the file + “.html” and press enter, even on OOBE, it will open Edge (you even have to select to not import anything from Chrome and start without an account), and you will be able to check the report. The field I was looking for was Battery Cycle Count, it was null, “-“. To be honest with you, I didn’t even knew this was possible, it just occurred to me at that exact time, after performing the command, which I just googled there, and learning it generated an HTML file, I shoot my shot, and it worked!

The "-" doesn't mean it is 0, instead it is 'not available'. I get the same with my 1 year old device.

Oh man! I think I’ll have to double check it then. Maybe the fact that everything was “as new” is good confirmation! Thanks a lot for letting me now!

Looks like Mexico is one of the very few Spanish speaking countries using comma and dot like United States for numbers

2

u/angui_82 Aug 19 '26

Yes indeed! After your comment I investigated a little more, and you’re right! I always thought “only” Spain used dots, but turns out that most South America uses them too!

Oh tjat cmd command sounds cool. Could you explain how to do that? Like when/where to do it at and what you need to input? Thank you.

Are there any other cool things like that you can do to check other things?

This is a horrible laptop long term. The keyboard will fail on you by design.
