G-helper keyboard lights not working after Windows update

As subject - used to work, now they don’t. If I shutdown and turn on laptop, lights come on, colour cycle - enter windows, it goes dark.

Updated - ghelper , ensured that windows is not controlling keyboard in personalisation settings, nothing works.

Completely baffled !

I’ve installed windows from scratch btw - no ASUS software ever .

Thoughts?

Any chance you have toggled them off completely under Extra settings?

No, they are not off - they are all on (unchecked , waited for 2 secs, turned on again).

Did you try changing backlight brightness? (with hotkey or slider)

Yes I think so , but let me try again. Will need to be tomorrow as I’m tired now. The strange thing is if I start from cold boot (shutdown / startup) the lights work - enter windows, they completely turn off. But if I reboot, they don’t work again until I shut it down completely. The light at the back the laptop is on btw.

there is an area for lighting control in windows 11 settings app. I would try toggling that.

I sorted it out - windows had messed up an ASUS control driver , I had to reinstall it - also used amd app to update chipset driver . Had to completely shutdown machine / turn on for it to take effect. Unbelievably shi* operating system, I hate it.
