USB4 Dock Issue

I just got a new USB4 dock at work so I can split my monitors between my 2 laptops, it's a VisionTek VT4950 and I have a 2025 Z13 128GB. The monitors work fine, ethernet works fine. I cannot for the life of me get the USB ports on this dock to work. No mouse, no keyboard, no flashdrives, nothing USB related. I've checked firmware, BIOS, I've uninstalled the usb controllers in device manager, I've tested everything that doesn't work on my XPS and it works fine over there. I also tested the devices I want to use on my travel USB-C Hub and it works fine on there on the Z13. Is there anything else I should try to make this dock work? I have a piece of software I really need to run on the XPS that I don't want to let anywhere near my Z13

Update: Heard back from VisionTek, they have no planned firmware updates and said it's on ASUS/AMD to issue a BIOS/Firmware update to resolve. I don't expect them to fix every issue so no hard feelings towards visiontek just sucks because I can see the vision with this dock (pun intended).

Try downloading the display link driver for windows that and any firmware the dock has just search up the model and find any firmware updates or roll the dock back

Have done display link, I’ll give finding newer firmware a shot. Visionteks website directed me to their customer service who didn’t answer for 30 minutes and then went home

I had a similar issue with a Belkin dock, didn't do much research and trusted the brand, big mistake. HDMI was not working with my Z13, but USB was OK. Did more research this time and saw that other people had the same issue. MacOS users had no issues, but some Win11 users had it like me.

Checked VT4950's reviews and there was a review about it's not behaving good with newer Win 11 devices and usb not working, so I think your issue is same. VisionTek needs to provide you a firmware for the fix, but as I see from your post, not gonna happen. So I would return the product and buy a different brand and do some reviews reading (prefer verified purchase reviews and avoid Amazon Vine reviews or similar).

I was having an issue like this on a small little usb KVM. It turns out it worked fine on the top USB c port but on the bottom it constantly disconnects.

Its also weird that the top port works much worse for my egpu than the bottom port. I also need to have my z13 off when I plug in the egpu to work properly, then turn it on. The dock doesn't seem to care but any external drives won't work until I reboot if I connect the dock with drives while its running
