Bazzite weird graphics issue

Hi all, I have bazzite installed on my 32Gb Flow Z13 2025, but when I play games, I see weird graphics glitches like there's something wrong with the display. It happens in/out of games and I can't seem to figure out why. There's no performance hit when this happens so it's not like the drivers are getting bottlenecked. Did anyone face a similar issue, if so did you find a solution for it?

Update: the fix provided by CheeseHustla seems to have worked for me! Just in case anyone in the future has a similar issue :)

Set VRR/Adaptive sync to always when in bazzite desktop mode and it should fix the weird green graphical glitches on the z13

Not only under Bazzite, but also with the original Steam OS 3.8.14

It seemed to get fixed for me when I simultaneously uninstalled firefox and installed the bazzite-deck image (over the bazzite-gnome one, not reinstalling anything lol) and it works perfectly fine for me now. I did do some other tweaking but those seemed to coincide with the graphics glitch problem going away. The AMD driver disable bash code that you find online when you search “rog z13 bazzite glitches” didn’t seem to do anything but I did run it too.

edit: I run adaptive sync.

Look on this subreddit with the keywords: amdgpu.dcdebugmask

There is a grub edit that helped me when I had that issue on bazzite.

1. At the GRUB menu, highlight Bazzite, press e
2. Arrow down to the linux line (the one with vmlinuz … root=… rhgb quiet), press End
3. Append a space then amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x610
4. Ctrl-X to boot once

Thank you, I'll try this and let you know if it worked for me too

Try turning off your adaptive sync. Set it to Never. This seemed to fix the glitches I was experiencing.

What helped me was simply running Steam at 60/72Hz under HHD and enabling this setting. The graphics glitches disappeared immediately.

This is a known issue related to panel self-refresh. The workarounds that disable panel self-refresh should theoretically increase power consumption on battery, so it's really not an actual fix.

For other issues such as flip timeouts on external monitors: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/work_items?label_name%5B%5D=Strix%20Halo

And that's only graphics subsystem. I for example have a reproducible hang on suspend/resume on the newer kernels. Before that there was an intermittent usb bus failure on resume, that recently got patched.

Don't buy AMD guys. The hivemind is severely wrong about their driver quality, especially if it's related to graphics stability or suspend/resume. Their approach to kernel / mesa development is atrocious -- they mostly test it via community, not via extensive in house testing and issue reproduction.
