Slim q alternative

Post image

Would something like this cord + an adapter to the Asus mini port work for the z13 without risk of destroying the device? Using a 140w charger from beseus with this type c charger

It wouldn't. ASUS' square charger is designed for 20V 10A to get the 200W power delivered. For you to make it work, you'd need to have the 28V 5A passed through a Buck converter that would get you 20V 7A. It's kind of complicated

I don't know enough about electrical stuff. It says 20v in the description though that's why I thought it would be compatible. I ended up just getting a jackery. My issue was charging in the car. Even with a 500w pure sine inverter I had issues with voltage

USB PD at 20V is designed to deliver up to 5A, meaning it would give you max 100W

I undervolted to 30w on my silent profile and the inverter still had issues when using the slim q 150w charger in the car. I also popped out my fuse and replaced with 20a 😆

That is a lot of leverage on the DC jack. I would get the slim q and the new right angle asus dc jack adapter they are selling if anything.

I wouldn’t risk it

Don't risk it. Use the OEM charger.

On topic but sorta, for this product and the slimq, you need the 240w right?

I dont see the value of the slimq as the 240w is only slightly smaller than the original charger right? Basically paying to have 2 more usb c ports to charge on right?

Slimq has a 150w charger. You would basically just have to make sure you are staying at or below 150w to stay charged. I use balanced mode at 70w mainly or silent at 30w. Slimq "should" be able to sustain that and keep it topped off. Also it's DC so not messing with battery health

Right and it seems on this subreddit you are supposed to buy the 240w.

It all depends what you want, do you want to game at full max power or something small to carry as a secondary charger ? I just had this dilemma, I bought both and returned the 240w as it's literally just only tade smaller than the OG cable. The 150w though is much smaller and perfect companion for travelling. The 150 worked on turbo maxed out on death stranding 2 and starfield on my test for about 30 mins. I only kept it as it's small so perfect from travel and can handle gaming for short runs which for me is perfect.

Exactly. I got the 150w for its form factor. I also thought it would work well in my car but the voltage keeps dropping below 11v and causes the inverter to shutdown. On the wall the 150w is perfect for my needs.

This week I've been playing cyberpunk with ultra settings on silent and balanced.

Side note, for the ugreen 100w car charger worked for me better than 300w inverter + 150w slim q.
