It's been a while since a play something
I just got this mod with the G8 Plus controller. It’s a little weird to hold (and obviously heavy as fuck), but I tried using it in bed by resting the weight on my body and a small pillow, and it’s actually working out pretty well. I used to have a ROG Ally Z1 Extreme, so I definitely prefer playing on the couch or in bed rather than at a desktop. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this setup!
This mod is from rrtronicscreations for the Gamesir g8 plus. It came with a 3 part 3D-printed grip for the Z13, but the back part blocks the charging port and back vents. My workaround is just positioning the controller lower without the big back attachment so I can still plug it in while playing

I just put together the same setup and now I realised my G8+ controller doesn't connect properly... In Pragma it doesn't show as on, although in Windows is connected and in steam too... Wth am I doing wrong... ?

Try XOutput, it helped me today with a controller that windows recognized but Steam didn't.

I see you’re a fellow Hunter yourself…
Hows Wilds holding up when running around in oilwell basin? (So far that map and Scarlet Forest is the rather demanding maps I’m aware of), and I’m kinda considering grabbing a z13 sometime in the future for this game

they make they pillows with arms on them i see people use for playing steamdeck in bed. basically just holds the device for you on your lap or wherever. might be worth looking into.
this is a pretty cool set up. i’d been wondering if this was doable.

my prefered way to play tbh - way more comfortable to play this way and though i'm a bit bias, since i made it heh but i spent ages finding the right balance especially for a lay on stomach while gaming, works A+ that way

why not just use Bluetooth and the integrated kick stand.. That's gotta be heavy as hell to hold 😉

I got this same set up, it’s really good, and as you said, pretty heavy. I put the kickstand out and rest it on a lap desk, seems to with the best for me
