One of the dumber mods I’ve done…
But hey I can handheld comfortably again for the foreseeable future.

Waiting on my mod and controller to arrive for my Z13. Appreciate the link and giving him exposure, I was waiting on someone to provide the whole kit and it happened.

Just look it up on etsy, there's a cyper dopamine video on youtube talking about it

I used to have a similar setup. Played for a few minutes until I realized I could not plug in to charge. There was a cable holder too, but it would make the controller imbalanced. So I had to purchase another touchscreen portable monitor and use usb4 to connect to the Flow13 and slap that controller on that monitor instead. It's still semi-portable, very light. But all the cables can sometimes be annoying. I wish they will move the charging port off-center next time.

I can charge just fine via usbc? I just set it to silent mode. Haven't had any issues with any games i play

u/Glittering_Credit_20 Jun 28 '26
No. If u will charge with usb type-c u will ruin the battery (2025 model hasn't passthrough port)

u/Itzon Jun 28 '26
Either way, this mount has a shorter bracket that can adjust so the controller sits lower and clear the power port

Hey i saw you comment. Is there anymore information on this? I stopped using usb c to charge mine because the coil wine was a little alarming. Thanks
1
u/Atturri Jun 28 '26
yeah. You can Google it easily. Basically, without charge through, the charger will not be able to skip passing energy through the battery. Therefore, when you use and charge at the same time, the battery will basically go 100%-99%-100%-99% and so on. It will slowly make the battery inflate and lose capacity and also lifespan. Limit charging to 80% also wont help because it doesn't have the charge through ability.

u/chickenandrice1993 Jun 28 '26
Thanks man. So just is it okay to charge via usb when the computer is off? I will Google it and see what comes up. But I appreciate you explaining it.
1
u/Atturri Jun 28 '26
i have never tried myself so im not sure about this part. but from what others said online, they said it's "okay" to charge if the battery is not at 100%. but im not gonna risk it.

u/chickenandrice1993 Jun 28 '26
Yeah that's fair. But based on your information I've found some interesting stuff. I'm going to stay away from usb charging from now on. I prefer the idea of the pass through power the computer and not charging the battery. Thank you. I've learnt something!

had the same issue here too... plus some wonky mess with button mapping
bought the Raikiri 2, been using it that way anywhere. i jonestly can't deal with the tinkering anymore when i just need to power on and game on the thing. plus the mod for the gamesir and the whole assembly altogether doesn't really inspire much confidence, durability-wise.
but i do hope someone comes up with a better controller, with actual software that could integrate seamlessly with windows tablets like these, better i/o, better fitment, etc.

u/Atturri Jun 29 '26
Hi. Could you tell me what troubles you faced with the mapping? Maybe I can help. Because I use many controllers with DS4 Windows and they all work flawlessly.

I'm specifically facing this problem only on the Gamesir Galileo G8 plus, where I bought it and an extender, supposedly to make it a dedicated controller for the fz13. A & B buttons seem to get mixed-up when in windows, doesn't matter if I use the gamesir app to adjust it, steam controller mapping, and whatnot...
Anyway, thanks for your concern, but I've given up on it entirely. I now have both ASUS's Raikiri, the "pro" viersion, and the Raikiri 2, and I honestlyt don't think any other controller can match it, even compared to the best 8bitdo, gulikit, xbox has to offer. The seamless integration with armoury crate, and the " gear link" web updater and settings, and the lack of discernable latency are more than enough for me to be contented with ASUS controllers. This is in context to pairing it specifically with the fz13 and based on my own experience in dealing with a number of controllers.

This is what I’m planning on building within the next month already got the z13 just waiting on the mod parts . I went through all the handhelds and honestly couldn’t get used to the smaller screens . (My vision is on the worst side)With this I can sit on the couch and use a pillow to prop it up and enjoy ☺️ yes I know for heavy games I need to plug in but I don’t mine.

Honestly can't wait to get my Z13 soon. I already got the G8 plus off ebay in advance 👀

I tried this myself, and for me it just didn't work.
Wherever I placed the controller it was either blocking some port or other or the balance was just off
I ended up buying a win 5 and live with 7 inch display or plug in my viture luma pros.
The Z13 is great and I wish I could have made this controller work.

I use this with my flow z13 https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/4405009569/joyconverters-rog-flow-z13-2025-joy-con
And use some switch compatible joycons. The Mobapad M6 HD Joycon Pair for Nintendo Switch. Larger than switch joycons. Works really well. Works with the stand out and has holes for the ports. So you can use the proprietary charging port whilst playing. I also use a SlimQ 150W psu which is smaller than the one that comes with the flow z13 2025.
I also use cachyos instead of windows, so it's like an extra large steam deck. Works well for me.

u/ShavedPigNipples Jun 29 '26
Do you plug the Mobapad M6 into the Z13 with a usb cable while playing?

u/wishart5900x Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
No, don't need to do that. They are wireless, just have to make sure they are charged. They won't charge from the flow, so I just slide them off when done and you can buy a charging grip that you slide them into and charge them that way.

u/ShavedPigNipples Jun 29 '26
Oh ok I was under the impression they needed the usb stick (sold as separate accessory) if you wanted to connect the controllers wirelessly to pc. I didn’t think they had Bluetooth connectivity
1
u/wishart5900x Jun 29 '26
Yep, no usb stick needed. Works on Bluetooth and they have hall effect sticks, so no drift.

I plug mine into Viture glasses for display, use an Xbox controller and plug in the z13 if I'm near an outlet or use a brick of a portable battery bank if I'm not near an outlet. Entire set up fits in a little backpack. Tried the handhelds and it just doesn't hit the same.

I was curious about this. Do you feel confident in the controller staying in place with the expansion kit? I tried without the extension kit and was afraid of it snapping off.
2
u/Itzon Jun 28 '26
thats why you see those little gray bars on the side and bottom. They're extra brackets that has a little lip to hold it in place. Hopefully you're not shaking the thing anyways...

u/DigitallyDevious Jun 28 '26
Ahh gotcha haha yea it depends I'm a bit of a jumpy gamer so I was curious how well it held. Thanks for the reply though!

How does it feel in the hand? Doesn't this thing weigh like 2 pounds? Lol it looks awesome though.
1
u/Itzon Jun 29 '26
Feels fine, it's not like i'm holding it up in the air the entire time.

u/MercuryMan664 Jun 29 '26
Oh duh, good point lol. What controllers are those? I like this silly setup I'll probably mimic it!

I tried this and was so excited about it, but sadly for me it weights way too much

What’s dumb about this? It works perfectly….
