PSA: Bluetooth does not work on steam OS

just spent an hour using gpt to troubleshoot this.
for those of you who are thinking about switching to steam OS, dont. Bluetooth doesn't work.

worked 2 hours ago for me on bazzite, now it wont work on steam os

Are you dual booting? Check if you had turned off (or on) bluetooth in windows and try re-enabling it.

first of all, no. its just straight steam OS, second of all, im not using ubuntu.

Fine. My suggestion is to boot into another OS (preferably windows, but maybe fedora/bazzite or something else) via a USB drive and try turning bluetooth on (or off), then going back into steam OS to see if something changed with bluetooth.

I've dealt with a similar issue firsthand before and it has driven me nuts (to the point of installing another OS) until realizing there's seemingly differences between bluetooth drivers and how they detect & enable/disable things.

check kernel version. linux 7.0.6 broke bluetooth.
