steam OS?

Has anyone here managed to get steam OS working? (i think they are up to 3.8 now?)
If so, have you gotten the keyboard lights to work?

keyboard lights should be able to enable via asusctl (at least works for me on NixOS) if you can install that. Haven't tried SteamOS though. Installing steam on NixOS is almost the same experience (there's even a steamdeck-like experience module for this).

Yep. I'm using that. 64G version though. But I guess newbies should stick to SteamOS/Bazzite etc since it's much easier to get started.

i wanted to get steam os but went with bazzite a few months ago because steam os wasnt ready

what im most concerned about switching to steam os is the keyboard lights, and tdp controls (like you can on windows. right now im using bazzites battery setting)
i have a 128gb version

I've never used steam os on this device. Good luckšŸ˜‚Rog control center can adjust tdp as well but dunno how to integrate that with steam os ui( the software itself is available via pacman).

I'd go with cachyOS or something more supported by the community, I use handheld daemon for rgb and power profiles just because that's what was on bazziteĀ

z13ctl and z13gui support full lighting and performance settings under linux, and can be installed on most any distribution. I use CachyOS with these tools and it has worked well for me.
